I am a first time cruiser and I was wondering when you think is the best time to go on a cruise. I am just beginning to gather information about the 7 day cruise. I am planning on buying the Passporter book soon. We are thinking of taking this cruise in 2007. Any info is greatly appreciated!!! :goodvibes

You didnt mention any travel time restrictions i.e. if you mind taking your kids out of school...Therefore, I'll just give you my preferences in order, mindful of best pricing and good weather, and **noted....

1) First 2 weeks December-**great atmosphere, ship decorated for holidays
2) 2nd, 3rd, 4th week October-**statistically less chance of hurricane
3) First week May-**not too hot yet, after spring break, but b4 school ends
4) First week November-**lull before holidays

Well, so far we've only been on one cruise, and that was in January. We were on the 3-night Wonder, and the weather was beautiful for us. It was warm, but not too hot. Just right to wear summer clothes and be comfortable. Now, I do know that there were others who cruised after us that had bad weather and even ended up missing CC. But I know that because this is considered "off season" with DCL, that rates are a lot cheaper during this time.
We also have a cruise scheduled for Oct., and I'm hoping that the weather will be good for us then. Because this is still considered Hurricane season, rates are cheaper then too. I did ask others here who have cruised at that time, and they all had good things to say.
Good luck, I know that choosing a date can be the hardest part of booking!

I have sailed twice in late September. The weather was great, the crowds were low and the price was right. :flower:

Of course you do run the risk of changing course due to hurricanes. Once I flew in on the back edge of one and that was exiting. The other time I flew in on Sept 15, 2001, that was scary, too. But I knew I had to do it to show that Americans will not give in to terrorists.

We will always remember the victims of 9/11, but we will continue on without fear.
