When to buy trip insurance?

We are putting a deposit down today for a fall 2016 cruise and will definitely be getting trip insurance, but.....do I get it now or wait until just before the PIF day? What did you do? Planning to use insuremytrip.com

Its up to you a lot of insurance is when you book the trip. Are you booking flights?

So the question is if cruise only you cant loose (bar a suite) until PIF. But get insurance when you book flights.

Also depends on if you need to cover pre-existing conditions or not. That often requires that you get the insurance within a certain number of days of the first payment. I'm not worried about covering flights so I usually make my decision on getting insurance at final payment.

Thanks. Not booking concierge so that's not an issue. I will be booking flights but not for at least a year from now. No pre-existing conditions to worry about.
