When to buy Dining Card

quick question. We are headed to Disney at the end of August for 10 days. We currently have an AP which will expire in June. We plan to get additional ones for the August trip but we havent decided whether or not to renew or purchase new ones since getting them in August will extend them further into the next year.

So, here's my question. Can we purchase the Dining Card now using our current AP and, if so, how long will the Dining Card be good for? Is it activated immediately or only the first time we use it?

I had called about it recently and they told me to buy 3-4 weeks before my trip since it is good fo 1 yr from date of purchase. We go in June and our AP's are up in August and my dvc is feb. I'm going to go cry with all these dates!!!

It is activated as soon as you purchase it. You can purchase it now but the expiration date would be May 31, 2006 (Make sure to verify this when you order it)

If you wait until right before your AP exp. in June to order the DDE, then your DDE exp should be July 31. That might work out nicely for you

Another thought...maybe you could order the new AP's in July and not activate them until your August trip. If you have ordered AP vouchers, then you should be able to order your DDE card a couple of weeks before your trip, thereby pushing the exp. date at least to the end of August. Only downside, you probably won't get the DDE card in time and will have to use the email confirmation letter for the August trip. HTH

I faxed my order in this past week and got the email back that evening with the proof of DDE. On the fax order sheet you have to enter you AP or PAP number (it's on the back of the pass). So if you don't have the pass or the voucher, you probably wouldn't be able to order one. But it was much quicker than I expected. Mine is good through May 31, 2006.
