When to book/ Stovall's or Desert Palms?

My excitement for the D23 Expo has thrown me into planning frenzy. So, for you experts, two questions:

1. How far in advance should I book a hotel room? Most room deals now are for May and June dates. Dare I risk it and wait until late June to try and find a good deal?

2. Stovall's Best Western or the Desert Palms? If I do everything a la carte with Stovall's it's about $50 cheaper than buying a Disneyland package through Costco for the Desert Palms. If the location of Palms is better than Stovall's, the perks of the package will more than make up for the extra cost.

Thanks for your opinions!

We just returned from Stovalls and really enjoyed our stay. It was very clean, an enjoyable walk to the park, updated rooms and a hot breakfast included.

We would gladly stay there again. The pool area looked nice as well, although we did not use it.

I've stayed at Stovall's lots of times & have quite enjoyed my stays there...all the rooms have recently been updated & the pool area is nice, 2 pools, 1 kiddie pool & 2 hot tubs, surrounded by topiary trees shaped like animals :thumbsup2

You can usually get the best rates booking through this link : http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/priceAvail.do?propertyCode=05185 ; if you can pay a few weeks ahead of time, the discounts can be great!

Just like the pp, I have stayed at BW Stovalls and it is a good hotel to stay if you are going to the D23 expo. I will be staying at BW Stovalls during the D23 Expo Weekend. The rooms are very nice and a short walk to DL and the Anaheim Convention Center.

I've stayed at the Stovalls twice and the customer service there has been good, the rooms are remodeled and clean, and they serve a decent hot breakfast. I would recommend staying there. The best rate I've gotten for Stovalls was $109 I think plus parking. That was with AAA discount.

You also get free wi-fi which is nice. We were able to get it no problem on our lap top but never on our ipads for some reason. Had we stayed longer we probably would have made more effort to make it work.

We love the location of the Stovall's, and have stayed there many times! I would definitely recommend it. I can not compare the two as we have never been to the Desert Palms. Will be interested to see a post from someone who has been to both.
After just reading another thread, don't forget that many of the hotels are charging for parking now, and it may not be included in the quoted price, but added later. Stovall's did charge last time we were there, but the rate still beat others and like I said we love the location.
Have fun at D23 Expo!

Thanks guys! I was hesitant about Stovall's - to get the cheapest rates had to pay up front. But I went to Best Western's main website and found a government rate - any state employee (I'm in PA) can get the low rate and can still cancel up until the day before the reservation starts.

Thanks to that and your glowing reviews, looks like I'll be staying there for D23! I'll be the person getting up at 6 a.m. every morning and running around excitedly :rotfl:
