When should we start trying to buy points for Feb 2009?

We're going the last week of Feb. '09 and I booked it a month ago. AKV is our home resort and I booked it each day 11 months out (2 bdrm concierge) Are you looking to buy resale? If so that process can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks. If you are looking to purchasing directly with Disney it takes far less time for everything to close.

We want to book thru a DIS person. We did this 5-6 yrs ago and loved it. Should we still try to book now?

The OP is talking about renting points. Since it is now less than 10 months out, it is not too soon to try and find points to rent from a VWL owner.

Sure! It'll just give you that much more time to plan and get excited. Sorry, I misunderstood your original post as I thought you were "buying" points not "renting" them. I say BOOK IT!
