When to book for December/Christmas week?

After a LOT of thinking & trying to schedule & stuff we have decided to go to Orlando a few days after Christmas through a few days after NYD. We plan on booking 1 night at a Universal hotel so we can get the early entry & the unlimited express passes for the 2 days we plan to be there (rest of the time we will be at Disney & I'll be booking a condo or house). If I book during the summer should be be fine? I want to book early enough for a possible better deal.

you can book now and modify the rate if it changes.

from christmas thru ny, is a busy time at the hotels.


if you book closer to near your date planned, you might not be able to book a weekend date for one night.


what is the date you are planning on for the darkside hotel?
you stated you will be in orlando a few days after christmas and days after ny.

if you are thinking of staying onsite for around january 3rd 2014, the crowds will have thinned out tremendously.

Probably the 28th & 29th of December with a room reserved for the night of the 28th.

the 28th is a saturday.
if you know you want that date, book now.


if the rate drops, you can call and modify it to the lower rate.


if you have AAA, you can use that for a discount.
a one night stay won't have that much of a discount but something is better than nothing.


when booking rooms, a one night stay is required.
since that is all you plan on doing, you will have the room paid in full very early.
if the rate would drop, you would receive the credit on your credit card.


you will be there during a busy time period.

Thanks for the info. I know it's a very busy time. That's one of the reasons we are booking the night on-site. The early entry & the unlimited fast pass make it worth it for us.

Also if you can book it as one night only now then definitely book now and adjust if you see a better rate. I tossed around the idea of an after Christmas trip this past year. When I was looking in the Fall that week had 2 or 3 night minimums at all the hotels.

Thanks again. I know it will be a nightmare but its literally either this time or August. I may be from TX but I hate the heat & I'd rather just have horrid crowds than crowds & horrid heat.
