When Staying at the BWV - Cash Ressie

We recently stayed at a 2BR villa at the Boardwalk (not DVC, cash). They said that they could not honor any of our requests because DVC members have first choice. We had the farthest room that they could possibly give us. A VERY VERY long walk from the lobby for sure! But the advantage was using the stairs for quick access to the pool (which we hardly used) and to the walkway to MGM. This was totally understandable, I just wanted anyone that is not a DVC member and staying in the villas to understand this. The 2 BR was very spacious and having a washer and dryer was terrific. We found it not to be as clean as it could be (not a problem for me) and two of my daughters found florida's "cockroaches", one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. This freaked them out and immediately hated it there. I didn't kill the bugs so it didn't bother me.

Sorry to hear your room wasn't as clean as it should have been. Doesn't sound good when those of us who are members are paying to keep these units in "near-new" shape.

Is the front of the BW still covered up with plastic? What view did you end up with? Did you try to change rooms or call to complain about the room condition? I am staying there soon in a 1 bed and am now worried!

I don't know if all the DVC properties operate under the same rules, but no one ever said anything to us about our requests at OKW.

When we made the reservation, the CM asked if we had any room preferences and I gave them to her. When we arrived, the room we were given met every request we had.

The difference is BWV has a small number of units with a high demand (Boardwalk view) and a larger number of units with low demand (long walk to elevators/lobby).

I suspect there are fewer specialized requests for OKW.

I didn't notice any plastic on the building. They were fixing a sidewalk and they were painting over at the Beach Club. I didn't complain about the bugs, it was only two. I didn't see them and I didn't kill them so it really didn't bother me. We were on the third floor ALL THE WAY at the end. It was at least 3 and 1/2 very long hallways to walk from the elevator. We were right by the stairs that made it easy to walk down to the path going to MGM. We had a view of the parking lot (trees covered it mostly), the path leading to MGM and you can see TOT from the balcony. Very peaceful.
