We want to go to Florida next year some time, we will take our eldest out of school for a week and incorporate 1 week of a half term holiday so our options are as follows, we can go either side of break.

Feb 21-25 Feb
May 30 - 3 June
Oct 24 - 28 Oct

What would be the best for:

1. crowds
2. weather

We will be staying off site so we don't need to take into consideration free dining deals.

Thanks in advance.

I would always choose October - for me its the best weather and I love all of the Halloween decorations. Good crowd levels too - my absolute first choice:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just come back from October trip - our first school hols trip.

Weather was fantastic - mid 80s and no rain and parks fine in terms of crowds - didn't really queue at all - did the usual rope drop/ fast pass tactics. US schools are not off as a rule. Halloween decorations a bonus aswell.

My DD has 2 weeks holiday in October so an easy decision for us.

Disadvantages of Feb are higher crowds for the presidents day long weekend and cooler weather. I've been end of feb before and weather was ok but prefer it warmer.

End May is high crowds as US schools have broken up and I think more chance of rain than Oct. It's also the memorial day long weekend.

I would go with October, it should be lovely weather, lowish crowds and you'll get the halloween decorations and if you go the week school breaks up and the week after you may even catch some of the xmas decorations too

Another vote for October - you get the weather normally without the humidity and we love the whole Halloween thing

Enjoy

But October is soooo far away ;)

We went October on our last trip and we did love it, it was warm but not too hot that we couldn't cope.

I was leaning towards October.

Thanks for your help.

Oooooh we can go to MNSSHP again we liked that.

It is far away - but you get longer to save!!:thumbsup2

And I like it because after everyone else has come back from their summer holiday, you still have yours to look forward to. We actually go in May a lot, and actually that is the main thing I don't like about May - my holiday has been and gone when everyone else is still looking forward to theres in July/aug!!;)

We always used to go around October time when I was younger and the weather has never failed us not stupidly hot but lovely for the water parks and swimming pools.
Now I have my own children we have for the last 3 times gone in end of september or the dates in October you are looking at we have found every time just perfect for our family we went 1st time with twin 1and half yr olds and a 4 yr old, then we went when they was twins 3 and oldest 5 and have just come back from an october trip with the boys being twins 5 oldest 8
It works perfect crowd wise the children never fussed because of long ques in hot weather as the ques at this time of yr are always very reasonable we find them more reasonable at the start of october best, and the parks look amazing from the Halloween decorations
Hope you have a great trip:)

Well at the risk of you all going "well why did she ask" I have decided to ignore all the good advice and investigate a trip for the week before and during half term in May :)

The reason we think this would be better this time, is because I want to talk the husband in to going to New Zealand for Christmas 2011 which will mean taking our eldest out of school for a week give or take, probably more take....

As I would also be taking him out of school for the May trip I thought it might have less of a sting if it was in a different school year.

Given he is only 4 (5 during the trip) I don't think it will be too detremental (is that how you spell that?) to him to miss a bit of school.

So now that I have gone against the advice, any advice we may need to know for May.

Kirsten

Main problem we have had for May half term is rain, went May 2009, bounced it down every day, never had as much rain in one trip, from about 2-3pm thru til 10-11pm every day. Just looked at a weather history site and it says we had upto 8.9 cm/day. But thats not to say it will be same next May.
