When should we go?

how busy is WDW the week of Holloween or Veteran's Day.
I'm trying to plan a trip during that time. I hate to go just to wait in lines and battle crowds. Any suggestions?

You will find that any holiday, long or short, tends to draw more people. Also, Halloween is probably going to be more crowded than Veteran's Day due to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. This is an after hours event that you pay extra for. The Magic Kingdom closes at 6pm and re-opens at 7pm with Halloween decorations, a special parade, characters in costumes, trick-or-treating and much more. I actually cannot wait to be able to take my kids to a Halloween party in the MK. (Of course baby #1 is on his way in a couple of months and I will have to wait a while). But I wouldn't let the crowds for these two holidays sway your decision. I've been to WDW during Christmas and 4th of July and although it is VERY crowded then, it was also manageable and fun because the parks keep longer hours, which I like.
