When should I book?

We are planning our trip for early June 2013. When do you think I should buy park tickets and book rooms? We want to stay at Tropicana, HoJo, Candy Cane or Camalot. We are driving, so no flights.

I always book our rooms as soon as the time I want opens up. HoJo will reduce your rate if you see a lower one after you book with them.
I usually buy our park tickets about a month beforehand when I know our trip is a go.

I spread out my purchasing of PHs - you'll need 4, you could buy them all at once *$$$* or buy 1 four months out, the 2nd three months out and so on. I saw in your other posts you'll be visiting UT canyons, my kids love Arches, Canyonlands and Zion National Parks - all off which are close to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - we like to stay in Kanab when we visit the parks - *this* is a nice place, you can usually find a coupon code.

I will be travelling around the same time and was wondering the same thing. From what I have seen, a number of airlines will allow you to book your flights and if a lower cost appears for your flight from now until then, they will give you credit for a future flight. As mentioned some hotels offer the same advantage or at least the ability to cancel one reservation to make another. I think the big one is park tickets. Look to some of the airline websites for discounts. I have been surprised to find reduced cost park hopper tickets through Alaska Air. I'm sure there must be other companies that offer this as well.

I generally book my hotel about 8 months in advance. However in my own experiences a few times, when I procrastinate a bit and hit about the 4 month mark before my trip I found that the hotel I wanted was not available. Good thing I have other places I enjoy just as much and scored a place there. But I always find the sooner the better, especially going into the start of peak season.
