I know its a long way off, and we haven't got this December out of the way yet, but I was thinking of booking in maybe January or February, for December.
Does anyone think that I should leave it until later on in the year ?
You never know what deals come along do you - but I just like to have something to look forward to.
What would you do

It depends when in December you want to go really. If its christmas then you should book early as it is very popular. If its early December then you could probably afford to leave it later and you would definitely get a better price.

Virgin and BA Holidays already have their fly-drives and package holidays out for next December but the flight-only seats won't be available until 11 months to go - so January.

We're already booked for Dec 2003 holiday - booked in the summer but I like to plan ahead and get exactly what we want. We are going over Christmas/New Year as we do every year and you never get a bargain at that time of year so it is better to book early and get choice.

Alex,

Have you thought about booking in March? I have found this is an exellent time of year to go. Usually around mid-March the weather starts getting warmer and its also not to busy in the parks if you dont go when its spring break. We have been twice in March and both times the weather has been great, usually mid 80's and not to humid.

Sorry Angela - I should have said.
We'd like to go the first 2 weeks of Dec, and definatly want to fly scheduled.
I'm tempted to try to put my own package together, but DH would rather get a package from Virgin.
How long do you think I should leave it ?

Paul - I've got my heart set on Dec for the xmas decs, and MVMCP :D

The first 2 weeks of December is usually pretty quiet so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a flight. You could still get a flight for early December 2002 at the moment with Virgin so no rush.

It is a fabulous time to go as you will get all the benefit of the Xmas theming without the crowds. We went out 17th December last year and it was still really quiet then but a few days later - wow did the crowds arrive. And if you don't mind being at a water park when its a little cooler the crowds were nil - it was a walk on to every ride.

You will save heaps of money if you go the DIY route over a package. We usually take a fly-drive with Virgin as we have our own accommodation. I find the fly-drive a better price than flight-only at peak times but off-peak when you're going it may be different. If you want to stay on-site check out the Resort board as they know all about getting a good deal and can give advise o which resort to choose.

Thanks Angela :D
The more I think about putting my own package together, the more I'm warming to it. I love planning anyway, and will quite happily spend hours looking for the best deals.
We hadn't planned on staying onsite, but if we can get a good deal, then we'd prefer it.
I'll do a search to try to find some threads on it :p
