My family wants to do the dolphin discovery in cozumel. We are going in Feb, should I book this now or should I wait until our cruise is closer? Also, what is the best time to go?

Thanks
Marci

Are you booking this on your own? If so then book now. The programs often fill up and you don't want to miss out.

I would definitely recommend booking this on your own. It is much cheaper than DCL's excursion, plus you have more programs to choose from. We did the Royal Swim and it was one of the best experiences we've ever had!

We went at 11am and the timing was perfect. We were off the ship just before 10:00 and at Chankanaab by just after 10:00. We spent some time by the pool where we could watch the 10:00 swims going on.

If you'd like to read more about our experience here's a link to my trip report. It's the second post on the page...

It was the best excursion we've ever done! Have fun!

We just returned from the Dolphin Discovery. We had a 1:00 time and thought it was a great time. We took our time getting off the ship and arrived at Chankanaab Park around 11:00. We walked around the facilities and swam in the pool before getting ready for our dolphin swim. We loved every minute of it. I would also book now for this excursion. This is one event that I wouldn't want to miss out on!!!

I like the idea of 11:00, we did 1Pm and didnt think to get to the park before 12, the kids ERALLY wanted to swim in the pool and we didnt get a chance, if we did it again, we would get there earlier!

We had an AWESOME time, Cozumel was our favorite day of the cruise!

We booked on our own, as it is cheaper then the ships. We also booked Seatrek and Snuba too! Loved the price of just $59 for these! We booked the Royal Dolphin Swim too. That is going to be amazing! Just 46 days until we leave....

How much less is it to book on your own for the same dolphin discovery that the ship offers. I know a lot of people said they saved because of the more involved experience with the Royal Swim. I am just wondering if the peace of mind of having Disney take care of the transfers, park entrance fee??, and the dd is worth the savings of doing it on our own. Any thoughts?

The park entrance fee is included with the price of your swim, whether you book through DCL or directly. Cabs are readily available at the end of the dock and it is an easy 10-15 minute trip, each way. The cab fare for our family of 4 was about $12 each way. You needn't worry about not having peace of mind by not going through DCL. It really couldn't be easier.

If you are at all interested in the Royal Swim then don't book anything else. It is that fantastic! The price of the Royal Swim, booked directly, is comparable to what DCL charges for the regular swim.

I booked 5 mos in advance when we went. :)
I just called them directly. they were very easy to deal with on the phone. :)
We were given a 3:30 time but I was able to get it to 2pm. Well the week before our cruise or so they gave us the 1:00 but didnt tell us.
When we arrived we were able to go to the 12 pm slot if we wanted. We decided to go to the beach for a bit, then after our swim we did lunch and the pool.
