When should guests leave?

Sorry, but I would have had a cab or a designated driver on hand!!!!
I have to agree. If you're going to serve alchol, there's always the chance someone will overindulge; a back-up plan is in order. And, remember, you don't HAVE TO serve alcohol (or have guests).

OK, I've been around the Dis for awhile and I've never been into the DH, DW, DD, etc. thing...BUT, does this not mean, "My wife chased my boyfriend out....?"

I was thinking the same thing!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: But I think in this case BF means Best Friend - as in BFF (Best Friends Forever)!!!

We didn't provide alcohol - DH can't drink. Another guest brought beer (not the ones that wouldn't leave).

Anyway, if this ever happens again (it won't on a holiday, b/c they won't be invited) I will get up the nerve to ask them to leave.

aaauuuhhh

tough one

I am thinking that since you stayed in your room they thought it was OK to hang out til you 'got up'
In my situation it would depend on WHAT friend it is -
if it was his best friend I would go make him feel comfortable and let him stay knowing he had noone were else to go and was probably not eager to go thinking about the loss of his mother...

but I can't imagine ANY of his friends EVER putting us in that situation!

IMO, they should not have stayed past noon AT THE LATEST.

I had a casual friend from work who went out with our group a few summers ago. She got rip roaring wrecked and we wouldn't let her drive home, and made her stay at my house.

I got up the next morning around 8, went to the gym, went to get bagels, came home, made coffee, showered, etc. She WOKE UP at around 2:30-3:00 and then had to nerve to ask if I had any coffee. Ummm, yeah...about 4 hours ago. She hung out until about 4:00 before she left.

We've never gone out with her again. I did invite her over last Memorial Day, but I told her laughingly "no sleeping over" -- she didn't come.

But you're still in charge of whether alcohol is consumed in your house. It's not inappropriate to say, "This is a dry party."
