DD's birthday will be just a few days before we go to WDW, but I know she will get a big kick if the cm knew too. Do you tell the people at the hotel this...are they make the kid's wear a sticker or something, or do we just tell the waiters in restaurants to get a little more magical treatment? It's our first trip there. Thanks.

You can get birthday buttons at Guest Services at all the parks. They are free. I love my AK button.

Ciao,
Mort.

We got a buttons at city hall in the MK for my son's bithday. When we stopped at a pin cart by the Pooh ride she told my son there was a phone call for him at the shop outside the ride. My son was not sure about this but we walked over and I asked the CM behind the counter. She said there certainly was a call for him and handed him the phone. It was Goofy whishing him a Happy Birthday! He was shocked and kept laughing.

As for the rest of the trip the CMs would all wish him a happy birthday.

We have celebrated many birthdays at DW and something magical always seems to happen. CM have been known to stop the birthday person and offer free ice cream, or we get chosen to ride in front of monorail (w/out having to wait or ask), or just feel special. At the hotel, dinner is usually made extra special or balloons have been known to show up in the room with a card from everyone. I try to notice others wearing the button so that I can go out of my way to make a big deal out of it. (That's the teacher in me my kids say.)
Have a wonderful time.

We got a button for my DS's 5th at City Hall. Then Goofy called to wish him a HB on the special phone. Later in the day, when he was wearing his button, another CM at one of the vending carts had Goofy call him yet again.

We told the waiter at 50's Prime Time that we were celebrating a b'day, and DS got a free, HUGE cupcake (big enough for us all to share). BTW, it wasn't his ACTUAL b'day, which was the next day, our flying home day.:( I hate flying home days.

DS's 7th birthday was 2 days before we went on our trip last year. From reading on these boards, we got him a birthday button and planned for him to wear it on our first day. However, when the time came we all felt silly with him wearing a button that says "Today is my birthday" when it really wasnt, so he didnt wear it.
But lots of people seem to do it, so if you dont feel funny about it, go for it. :D

We had ressies at Cindy's breakfast for the morning of my nieces birthday. We told the CM when making the PS and at checkin we told the CM again. They actually decorated the table for her. She also had the waitor sing to her and the princesses. They also gave her a certficiate and a cupcake for a candle on it. We also got her a button the day before at City Hall. She loved it. I think you could do your first day there as a birthday day. Tell the CMs when checking in at restaurants.

We just returned from DD's 4th birthday trip. She proudly wore her button & was noticed by many CM's. Our two favorite happenings were: Main Street Band marching toward us playing a song. When they saw the button they stopped that song right in the middle and all started playing Happy Birthday! Then later that night while waiting on the curb on Main Street for Spectro Magic, CM came over to say Happy Birthday then asked if my daughter would like to come into the street with him. She said yes, he picked her up went right to the middle of the street, got everyone's attention & all of Main Street sang Happy Birthday to her! Now that was cool. Of course DD ate it all up like the ham that she is! :-)

My birthday was on my May 10th, and our first day at the parks wasn't until May 12th. I went ahead and got a birthday button at MK that day and it was amazing to see how good the CMs are at spotting the birthday buttons. I was especially appreciative of the extra-large dole whip the button got me! The next day we were at Epcot and DW kept encouraging me to get another button because they are different at each park, but I was a little hesitent because I had already celebrated a birthday day. Eventually I gave in and got the Epcot button, and the next day I got a button at MGM and the day after that I got the AK button. Even when I told the CM's that my birthday was days ago they still treated me just as if it was my birthday. They even recommended that if I visited any of the other parks later in my trip I should stop and get the button for that park!

A few of the special things CM's did for my birthday:

The previously mentioned extra-large dole whip.

A personal birthday wish from the CM announcing at Impressions de France (although someone should warn the female CM's in the French pavillion not to get to friendly with me because my DW is aware of my fascination with them).

The standard Goofy birthday call.

A balloon and signed birthday card from Mickey in our room.

3 MGM CM's performed a wonderful rendition of "Happy Birthday."

A personal birthday wish from our Kilimanjaro Safari CM.

WHile I am not disputing anything said here.... please don't tell your children about all of this stuff. We celebrated two birthdays at the World in January. Both of the kids wore their pins (on different days) and got VERY LITTLE extra attention. In fact, other than the two PS meals we had planned as birthday meals (and told them in advance when we made the PS), we had almost nothing special happen. A few CMs did see the kids and offer a nice "Happy Birthday, but that was about it. So try not so set your kids up for a disappointment. But hopefully for you it will all be terrific!....................P

I agree dont promise anything but it is soo cool when special pixie dust happens. We just did the whole uttons thing with my DD turned 5 in April. Also, I went to party city and bought her the crown that says happy birthday and she wore it with her bitton the 2 days we were there. So much attention. Cindys dinner gave her another crown and special dessert and attention. We all gotto go Test trach a second time in front of the crowds and the CMin the announcers booth announced it was her birthday and had everyone sing. Marc at teh Rose andcrown was wonderful for dinner surprises and attention for her. Also call and have them put on the ressies that it is her b-day and tell them when you are checking in. My DD came home from a magical dinner with Cindy to baloons and a signed card in the room. Soo good.
