We are new to this and we leave in a few days. I have noticed that a few days that we are there, its going to rain. What do you do when it rains??? And what are the best parks to visit when its going to rain???? Is one better than another???? Thanks to your reply.:p  :smooth:

Honestly, almost all attractions in the parks are indoors so it shouldn't effect your riding anything. If you don't mind walking in the rain, your plans should still stand!! Grab a Mickey rain poncho and ENJOY!!!

We like to ride it out if it rains most florida rains are short in the afternoon. Alot of people leave when it starts so sometimes the crowds are lighter after rain ( esp. the water parks). The parks we like for rainy days are MGM and Epcot most of their things are inside.

We don't let the rain stop us. We have a little better quality poncho and keep going. Most of the rides stay open. Just make sure and have a couple pair of shoes so one can dry while you keep going with the other. We've been to all the parks in the rain and don't have one we would choose over another. The rain keeps the crowds down so especially in the summer it's kind of nice.

We have been absolutely soaked the last three times we have been at WDW on at least one occasion. Every time we laugh oursleves silly and hope that our shoes dry out overnight so that we can have another great day. Buy a pncho, or better yet bring one that isn't yellow and have fun. Many rides are indoors as stated before but many are not. And many will have wet seats. Oh well, you will be at WDW and I bet it will end up not bothering you in the least just like my family. Have fun.

FYI - In my opinion, the only park that would be "undesireable" in the rain is Animal Kingdom. ALOT of that is outside - like the walking tour/safari ride (although you are in a covered truck)...the only 2 indoor things to do would be Dinosaur and ITTBAB.

and yes, I know festivel of the lion king is in a covered pavillion...but I swear to god - that's the longest walk in the WORLD to get too!

i dunno - I just think that DAK is yucky in the rain - at least at MK and epcot, there are "more" place to duck for cover.

I agree with stinkerbelle--we found AK to be very unfriendly in the rain. There is not a lot to do indoors and that was the only park where it seemed to rain faster than the street could drain. And Festival of the Lion King was cancelled because of a nearby lightening strike:eek: All the other parks have lots to do even though it is raining.

Go to the parks anyway. Awet day in Disney beats any dry day indoors.

Bring disposable ponchos from Walmart for everyone in your group (Cost = about 99¢ each). Have each person carry their own in their fanny packs. Buy any color BUT yellow. The Mickey ponchos are yellow and it's hard to tell who is who when everyone is covered in yellow plastic.

Bring baseball-type caps to wear over the hood of the ponchos. This holds the hood in place when it gets breezy and the bill of the cap will shield your eyes from the rain better.

Wear sandals instead of sneakers and socks. They dry out more easily and are not as uncomfortable as wet socks and sneakers. It can take days for soggy sneakers to dry.

If the day starts out wet, bring a backpack of dry clothes and store it in a locker. You can make a quick change into the dry stuff when (if) the weather breaks. OR wear clothes that dry quickly like nylon shorts and tops. Skip the denim and heavy cotton t-shirts, they stay wet forever.

If it is a real downpour, consider a visit to DisneyQuest or other Downtown Disney destination. Or go the AKL and watch the animals from indoor viewing stations. The big cats get a lot more active when the rain starts.

(Dollar Tree) stores sell a pack of 2 ponchos for $1. (they come in clear and orange). I always take 2 packs for our family of 4 to the parks for sudden showers. If it clears up while we're still there, we just throw them away.

bring a stroller cover. You can buy them at Babies R Us or probably online. If you have a stroller, you will be so thankful that you have the stroller cover. It covers the entire stroller. Your child will be dry and so will everything in the basket. I also suggest the you bring an umbrella too. The reason for this is when you take your child out from under the cover, you will want to cover the child so he/she doesn't get wet.

Our trip last yr in June it rained for our entire 9 days. I think that is was a rain streak of 16 or 17 days. We had a great time. You'll be fine, enjoy ;)

I like Epcot and MGM best for the rain - most things you want to do are inside. (The exception is Test Track which usually closes if it rains more than a drizzle)

Sometimes the crowds are lighter in the rain - but not always.

Wear ponchos (not yellow), sandals, and any clothes that will dry fast and have a great time!

I was there 4 of those 9 days...... It rained ALL 4 days!!

... especially if it has been hot. I go to our local zoo in the rain all the time, and the animals often like to sort of "play" in the water as long as there is no lightning.

Wear sport sandals and you won't need to care at all about your shoes; they are comfortable enough for extended walking use. If you don't want to invest in them, you might want to stick some cheap water-shoes in your pack to wear during the rain and right afterward, until the puddles subside.

I loved Animal Kingdom in the Rain!!!!

I just wore a full rain suit and my Teva sandals and went out in it!!

The safari was full of animals, even the cats were playing in the rain!!

I rode Kali River Rapids four times straight and didn't care if I got wet or not!!

Actually, Festival of the Lion King is one show I don't like seeing when it's raining, because the monkeys can't do their full routine because any little bit of water on their bars is dangerous.

It rained all day in November when we were at MGM. It wasn't too bad but my daughter had on long jeans and the bottoms just soaked up the water. She was wet from the knees down. Just wear shorts or make sure your pants don't drag the ground!! I'd recommend bringing a poncho that's not yellow - it's hard to tell everyone apart when all you see are yellow ponchos! We used our umbrellas more - keeps your head dryer. ;)

The park that is friendliest to rain is easily Epcot

Epcot has many large buildings that have a lot of things to do in them.
- Innoventions
- Wonders of Life
- Mission Space (coming soon)
- Test Track (post show)
- Imagination
- The Land
- Living Seas

Plus...
In all of the countries in World Showcase, every shop and restaurant is either connected or is very close to one another. The only pain is that the entrances to the countries aren't especially close to one another, and there are some large gaps between countries (China - Germany, France - UK, UK - Canada).

Magic Kingdom and MGM are not horrible in the rain either. There are a lot of covered areas in both parks (especially in the MK), and both parks have a lot of attractions that continue to run in inclement weather.

The only park that doesn't work so well in the rain is AK, but that has already been covered.

yep me too. I was wondering the same thing, guess we will just have to see
