When isn't there a festival in Epcot?

I think a big part of these festivals has become the food. F&W became such a success that they are adding food kiosks to all the festivals. FotA looked more like a food festival than arts from some of the reviews I read.

And I agree... Epcot during F&G is gorgeous! We love it!

I enjoy going to a food demo during F&W, and so, I was happy to find that it began during DVC's Member Cruise this year so we did not have to buy another set of airplane tickets to go to it! We would not have, I was ready to miss it this year.

We planned our January trip over 6 months ago as well to be there at a calm time to enjoy EPCOT. Instead we were dodging drunks and spent half the time we normally do in the park. If they keep adding festivals, we won't be going back.

I'm curious about the term "drunks" because I was once accused of being drunk while at the Food & Wine Festival. My husband and I had just walked into World Showcase after coming from The Studios and I got a glass of wine from France. I had taken one sip of the wine and tripped over my shoelace and bumped into a woman going the other way. I started to apologize and she literally screamed that my drunken *butt* should get out of Epcot. I completed my apology and my husband and I continued on but it still smarts that just because I had a wine glass in my hand with one sip gone, that she thought I was a drunk.

We just got back, and this was the first festival I've experienced. What I did see, particularly last Saturday, was a large number of people walking around WS carrying drinks of various shades of amber. Many were exhibiting what I might call "boisterous behavior" that suggests the identity of the drinks. However, I don't remember seeing anything that would be called "drunk". (Not to suggest it doesn't happen - I'm sure it does if you happen to find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time.)

One place where it really came into play was that yesterday, I was chatting with a friend who was working as a greeter at the entrance to American Adventure. She repeatedly had to tell guests "sorry, you'll need to finish your drink outside." More guests carrying drinks around will throw off their touring, especially for attractions that have fixed starting times.

I'm in the opposite camp. Festivals make Epcot lively, warm, and energetic. On my last trip, I caught the last day of F&W, and there was such a hum of excitement on that day, that was missing the rest of the week.

We like the idea of festivals just fine. We have been to F&W, though, when there were enough people at least acting inebriated that it was a very negative experience. we now try to avoid Epcot during the F&W if at all possible. We used to try to see it before.

The Flower and Garden is pretty. We like that one, but rarely go in the spring.

We happened upon FotA in January and were notably underwhelmed except for the 'Broadway' show at the American Gardens Theater. That show was good. The 'art' was not impressive and the food we sampled sub par. I would have preferred Epcot without it.

A HUGE emphasis on art around the WS.
Being able to stand in famous paintings and the mural-by-numbers are lovely!
There are 7-ish booths but at least double that of art-focused kiosks.
Much of the food they are serving has a decidedly more refined / artful presentation than at F&G or F&W.

We love the festivals and feel EPCOT is a bit empty when there isn't one.

For my family and me, we prefer to go to Epcot when there ISN'T a festival or a special event. The larger crowds make it more difficult to enjoy Epcot.
