When is the last moment I can cancel a reservation?

I've recently made changes to my pkg and was told if I cancel 1-2 days before arrival I would lose it all. You can cancel before then and be deducted $200.00 plus travel insurance. Or if you make changes like I did, you pay a $50 change fee---luckily my change was before my final payment was due, so I didn't have to pay anything. HTH

As far as when? Before 12 midnight, Disney time. That would be 11:00 pm for me, Central time.

I think OP is asking about cancelling when booking with DVC points.

Yes, sorry, I should have given more detail. We are not sure if we will be able to arrive on Monday or Tuesday (dvc). Our reservation had us arriving Monday. I ended up switching it to Tuesday shortly after I posted this question. I got nervous and did not want to wait to see. At that point the dashboard still posted, “2 days until your reservation.” I believe once it states “1 day” that I can no longer modify. I will try at 1 day and report back just for information.

If you cancel the day before checkin, all points will go into holding. If you cancel the day you're supposed to check in, you lose all your points.

I guess you're asking what the deadline is for "the day before checkin," and I'm not sure whether it would be something like 5 PM Eastern, or COB for MS i.e. 9 PM Eastern, or midnight. If I had that question, I'd call MS today and ask.

You can not modify online the day before and with cancel, I would make sure you do it before MS closes for the night. If the system goes down, you will be out of luck, and could end up losing the points.

Any change or cancel to a trip within 31 days does result in holding points. If you have a reservation booked, and think you will be delayed in getting there, but still plan to go, you can always just notify DVC that you will be arriving a day or two late....as long as you notify them, they will not cancel your reservation out from under you!

When you mentioned dining, it reminded me of what a CM told me-when you cancel a resort reservation, it doesn't automatically cancel your dining reservation(s). Perhaps you're going to stay with friends who live off-site, and no longer need your room. So, unless the policy's changed since the CM told me, you have to cancel your dining reservation(s) yourself to avoid the "no show" fee.

Ok! This is what I was wondering. As of this morning it said “1 day” and had the option to modify. Now it still says “1day” but I can no longer modify. At some point during the day, it took that option away. I’m guessing 4pm? Because that would be 24 hours before the reservation technically starts. Anyway, not sure if anyone else is as last minute as we are and has to worry about this stuff.
