When is the hat to be removed?

I will miss it. Prefer it over the earful tower. Have some great pics in front of it and love it lit up at night.

I like the hat. But I'm not going to lament it going away. Disney will do what Disney will do. Sometimes I like the changes and sometimes I don't. I guess I feel an overwhelming sense of apathy.

I can't wait to see it the way it was again! I used to love walking in and seeing the theater:) such a nice open space. Now if there were only a way to make residential street again so that the Osborne lights could go back to the way they used to be....a girl can dream:)

I too am happy to see the hat go! Will be excited to see how the park looks without it when we go this summer. :yay:

Any ideas on how long it will take to remove? I'm going mid March and the thought of all the construction is not making me happy.

Knowing how fast Disney is at construction should be overnight. NOT

I hope they put the hat at the entrance of the park, before you get to the turn styles. I wish they put Mickey and Minnie's houses somewhere too.
Its new location will be a part of the park that doesn't exist yet - so it's going into storage for a while, but fear not, you will see it again. My guess is that this will be part of Phase II of the Studios expansion.

I can't wait to see DHS without the hat. Although I did like the pin store under it.

Me too! I can't wait to walk in and see the park the way it used to be, with the theater as the focal point. That hat looked like something they just plopped down, as if they built it, but didn't have a place it would really fit.

When did the hat go in?

I like it, but I have no memory of DHS WITHOUT the hat, so that colors my judgment.

We'll be down in late February and that's one construction fence I will applaud.

Stupid hat.

Of course, crowds were close to non-existent at the time because it was just 2 1/2 weeks after the 9/11 attacks.

Yup, I arrived on 9/14, when the hat was done but still behind a fence. That was easily my most surreal WDW trip. I had some photos that I hope will never be seen again.

(And we were also there the previous January when it was just beginning to go up.)
