When is the best time....

to book the car rental. We have an upcoming trip in April 2015.....I want to get the best price....what is the typical timeframe?.....right now they seem a little expensive....

Rule of thumb with car rentals are to book now with the best price you find and then keep checking until your date of departure as rates are fluid and increase/decrease with demand. Re-book and then cancel as needed.

Always re-book the cheaper rate you found first before you cancel your existing reservation.

Since your not going until April, I would check once a week up until late march; and then every other day. Make sure you price with any coupons or contracts (AAA) you may be eligible for as it becomes available.

Car reservations can be cancelled with no penalty. I've booked/rebooked for some vacations 3-4 times.

If you will be renting around the Easter holiday, be sure to book something cancelable now. During peak times, rates may only continue to increase. Good luck and have a great trip!
