When is the best time to call for room releases??

I've driving myself mad!! We are staying at BC for 5 nites(Aug 13-Aug 19), going to Captiva Island for 5 nites and trying to get into Poly for the last 3 nites! I can get the 1st 2 nites, but can't get the 3rd(the 26th)! The DH won't move yet again for our 3rd nite(if we can't get the Poly) to the BC.(He hates moving around), but I'm going to break my 12 year old DS, if we don't stay at the Poly! I have been calling everyday, checking all of the travel sites(Expedia, Travelocity,etc) and no can do!
Should I just wait until it gets closer and maybe someone cancels or should I just keep up with what I'm doing? What time of day should I be calling?? I know someone else has gone thru this before...maybe we can have a "pity party" together

I thought they only released those rates in the morning...I didn't know to call at nite too! I'm feeling the pixie dust!!
