When is Spring Break?

We are looking to get in at least one more trip before our APs expire next year. They are good through mid-May. I wanted to plan it early enough that if something happened we could postpone, so I'm thinking March/April, but want to avoid the most crowded times. Easter falls April 20th so I'm assuming the week before and after will be bad? Should the first week of April be a decent time to go?

When is the standard Spring Break, or is there even one? I assume schools around the country have different schedules but is there a general timeframe this effects Disney crowds more? I know my college spring break was March but public schools around here seem to have April breaks mostly.

TIA

You can tell the busiest times by comparing to the price charts. When the prices go up - it is busy time, prices go down it is less busy! Easter week is the craziest. All through March is crazy busy.
Using that logic - take a look at the price chart - you should be fine the first week of April plus the weather will be lovely!

Not all school districts have their Spring Breaks tied to Easter. There are big crowds all through March and right through Easter. But of course the weeks on either side of Easter will be busiest.

We always have the last week of March and first week of April off. I think many schools in the midwest do also, although some only have one week off not two.

I searched the forum and found this Spring Break 2014 poll. There is one every year and as the number of responses grows it should give an accurate distribution.

There are usually two major weeks that peak and maybe a 3rd that stands out but this one for 2014 hasn't taken the shape that previous spring reak polls have; at least from what I remember. I'll bump the thread because it is one that can use more input.

Canadian spring break is scheduled for March 7 - 16. Most Ontario spring breaks. It will be very busy that week.

I live in CT and out spring break ends on Easter. So I am thinking that all the school here pretty much are on that same schedule.

We have been the first couple of weeks in March and the crowds were fine-weather great too.

After that spring breaks start and so do the cheerleading competitions-that was awful but was at the end of our stay

Wish we could still go at that time but can't.

In Massachusetts, Spring Break is always around St. Patrick's Day. I went to college in Boston, and they made a point of saying they didn't want students in school during St. Patrick's Day, as no one would show up to class, haha. Some are the week before or after, but the majority are that week. Hope this helps :thumbsup2

I think the first week of March or the first week of May are your best bets crowd-wise. March will be a bit cooler, but may not be every day pool weather yet. May will be starting to get pretty warm, but usually not too humid.

There will still be some Spring Break crowds probably through mid-April. Where I live (metro-Atlanta), Spring Break will be April 7-11. This is one of the large county systems in the metro area. All of the other school systems in the area (and throughout Georgia) will likely be that same week or possibly the next week. So you would see a lot of Georgia families in Florida during the early part of the month.

With Easter being so late next year, I would wait for May, if that works for you. I've never been first week of March, but that probably would be OK, too.

Edited to add: Once our son was in college, with the semester being done in the first week of May, we started going to WDW in the 1st or 2nd week of May. Crowd-wise it is a great time to go. Yes, it can be hot. But in any given year, it can be hot any time. And it isn't as hot as July/August.
