Hi everyone. I'm currently torn btw an escape vs. a wishes wedding. There are unfortunately factors that r out of my control that will definitely affect my decision. I would love to have the wishes wedding but unfortunately there might be layoffs at my job which would eliminate that option. :sad2: My question is if I were to call DFTW and give them a tentative date until when do I have to possibly change it?

I'm pretty sure you have up until you sign your contract to make changes, be it a date or a change to escape or wishes. Once your contract is signed though, you might be out of luck. I would make sure you know what you want to do first before you give them the ok to draw up a contract for you to sign, though. HTH!

Thnx! I'm going to see than if I can tentatively hold the date because we should be finding out by Sept. so hopefully that might work. Thnx again.

Here's hoping everything turns out ok in your job.

You can still change what type of wedding you have and even the date after you sign the contract. We changed our date after the save-the-dates had already gone out. :scared:

I changed from an Escape to a Wishes after we had signed the Escape LOA. It was very easy to do.

are there an penalties for changing from Wishes to Escape? or will the deposit just get switched over?

Good luck with your job!

Is there something you really want that you have to have a Wishes wedding for? We probably spent around $14,000 on an Escape wedding. It seems like Disney is very willing to making things work for brides.

Good luck

No, you cant switch from Wishes to Escape after the LOA, because then Disney would be losing money. The other way around is fine though! Thats what my consultant has said.

Well there are some people that I would like to invite and I'm not sure if they'll make it or not but if it's more than 18 than it be wishes. But the biggest reason is that I really would like to have the first dance with my father and my DF and kinda have a lil bit of that reception feel you know. I know you can have a lunch/dinner at a restaurant but idk how much a dj would cost for 2 hrs and if it's even allowed? Did you guys end up doing that? If you don't mind me asking. I'm open for suggestions. I'm getting bummed because It's always been my dream to get married at Disney and no matter what we're going to make it happen but I don't want to end up sacrificing something important. :sad2:

I was told that with the escape you can have the private reception after the ceremony in one of the ballrooms or other reception areas but you are limited to 2 hours. And when I mentioned dancing the sales consultant told me that they don't really do that because that's more of a Wishes event. Between your meal and cake/dessert two hours goes by very quickly, they serve your meal for about an hour and a half so that's coos to two bourse righ there.

Let me clarify, with escape you'll get a first dance with your hubby and even with your dad during the cake cutting. But theres really no option for guest dancing.

This was one of the reasons I switched to a wishes event.

Yea..I know even though it's not that many people I would still like a lil sense of a reception. Oh well keep your fingers crossed for me guys.

You can add around 5 people to a Wishes wedding for around $500 (I would have to look it up to be exact). I think we had 21 guests. I suppose it seems weird but I didn't send out invitations until it was all confirmed as to who was coming. I wouldn't say I was rude but did tell my guests I needed to know if they were coming or not. The first guests I invited all came. There are others I would have like to have been there but it wasn't financially possible for most people. Maybe if I would have pursued it more others would have come down.

Maybe I shouldn't say but our lunch was 3 hours. Maybe because we spent so much they let us have hours. Maybe we paid extra for the 3rd hour. We had lunch at the Napa Room. 3 hours went by quickly between eating, hanging out on the observation deck and watching the caricature artists. I have two left feet so dancing didn't interest us thus I can't comment regarding the DJ. We could have had an IPOD hook up. We did have a Key West style guitarist at SBP and the Napa Room.

Do you already know the price for a DJ for 3 hours?

We (bride and groom) had a dance after the cake cutting at SBP. We danced with Mickey and Minnie too. I can't see why you couldn't do a father and daughter dance. We paid for the guitarist and he just kept playing while the guests took pictures with Mickey and Minnie. This is something I wanted but I would think we could have spent that time however we wanted. I wold think if we had the cake cutting at the Napa Room we could have danced with whoever we wanted. The time at SBP was limited because there was another wedding right after ours. I don't think being a Wishes wedding would have changed any of this.

We also had a dessert party which was a huge hit.

I am sure you can make it work. Have you talked to your planner about having a DJ at an Escape wedding? I stressed regarding $$ right up until the end. I was probably a planners worst nightmare as I just kept adding on.

If a Disney wedding and a DJ are at the top of your list I would say that to your planner.

Where are you planning to have the DJ?
