When is it inappropriate to wear a bikini?

I think it depends on where you are. If I'm in the Caribbean, I totally wear a bikini. How else can I get a tan? And I am a size 12. But my tops are very supportive, especially after nursing my DD for 13 months. And my bottoms cover everything and are def not skimpy. No string bikinis.
When we go swimming locally or where there will be a lot of children such as WDW, I wear a tankini. I def cover up.

My only suggestion is that until the young lady can support a Bikini she need not be wearing one...and once she can it is still not a great idea until she is 18.
I have been all over and especially at the resorts they have a lot of high school girls on trips etc. To see these girls running around next to naked really bothers me because in our society one never knows what sort of creepy people are around. :sad2:

As for adults wearing them...whatever you want to do is fine I am sure. If people do not think it is attractive on you they need not look. :thumbsup2

Creepy people are going to look at young girls no matter if they wear a bikini or a one piece. That's just their nature.

I didn't think this thread was about age, I don't know what I was thinking. But in relations to my daughter, the bikini will be after she is 18 and I remove the chastity belt. haha

IF you feel good about your body and it is not to your child's school (or anywhere else that will mortify your child), go for it.

You have but one life to live, and, you need to be happy with it. I now have 4 children, and, a scar from a Cesarean, and, I think about the times pre-baby that I COULD HAVE worn this or that, but, opted not to (though I was a size 5), and, it makes me crazy. You can't re-do it. So, if you want to wear it, go for it!

As for my children, I am with the other moms, not until they are old enough to comprehend what it could mean, and, what others think it could mean. My 3 year old is allowed to wear it, though. She is just a baby, but, will go to one pieces only around 5.

In our family, it's always appropriate for me to wear a bikini.....DH says the day I stop wearing my bikini is the day he starts wearing a "mankini" :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I'm in my late 20's, size 6, 2 kids. However, I do not wear a bikini. Yes, I'm a size 6, but my belly is disproportionately poochy after having 2 kids...the skin is stretched out (had them back to back and skin never seemed to recover). DH thinks I would look fine, but I can look pregnant if I wear certain things so NO bikini for me!

I wear a tankini. I don't like 1 pieces- I tend to feel poochy in those, too, because of the way the fabric stretches over the mid section.

I'm Pooh sized and my motto is: Just 'cause they make it in my size doesn't mean I have any business wearing it.

I think more people should take my motto as their own. :rotfl:
I agree with you on that one. I have a sister who would wear something i know and everyone else knows she shouldnt wear but she says i feel great wearing those things and i think im going to be sick with her wearing those things!!!
I am a size to im not big but i see my self differnt from others so No Way i would wear anything like that i feel like a beached whale i know im not but cant shake the feeling...I have 4 kids and i can relate to the poochy feeling alot. But its all how you feel and see your self i guess :) I my self am not happy with the way i look compared to some i see i look great for being 30 and having 4 kids but NO way i would wear one.

After what age, what size, or how many children is it inappropriate to wear a bikini?

Any age Any time, IF ITS FITS! :rotfl2:
Personally I think a flattering one piece that leaves some imagination is much sexier than a piece of floss, but thats just me.

If you are Hott then wear one ........ I will be watching you ...... thru my Foster Grants !!!

:lmao:i dont want to see any man i know in a mankini
But the question there is what you look like.Take me for instance i am 5'2 30 yrs old and four monsters and im a very small person But would not wear one im not happy with how i look or to make it even better i would hate to hear what other people say about it lol I cant help it im just not happy with they way i look but hey if you are by all means wear it.Just have to know how people can do that?? Even before i had kids i wouldnt wear one but now you would have to kill me to get me to wear one.

Its all in the fit and the way you feel. I am by no means overweight or pooh sized but I am also not a tiny girl. I still rock my bikini. Im 20 years old and I like the way I look and feel so that is all that matters.

BTW When I say I rock my bikini I mean a supportive top and full coverage bottoms.

AMEN!!!! I would never dream of wearing osme of the things that are made in my size.

MY DD5 has always worn 2 piece swim suits and will continue to do so as long as she wants. They simply fit her long torso better and in my opinon ocver more of the important parts than a one pices that is pulling in the wrong directions. "Creepy people" are going to be creepy even if the child is wearing a parka. I can;t spend my life worrying about the next creep thatmight be lurking to sneak a peak at my kid. If I did I would only take her out of the house wrapped head to toe in a sheet.

My husband says I should always wear a bikini. I disagree. There are times when I feel more comfortable in a tankini or one piece.

I have new scars from having my gall bladder out this past December-one right in the middle of my tummy, 2 on the side, and one on my belly button. Would you be freaked out if you saw a woman with scars on her midriff in a bikini? I'm really self concious about them. My husband says it doesn't matter, but I'm wondering what people's general opinion is.

I'd rather be looking at your scars (which I have too, BTW) than my big fat butt (or someone else's equivalent) in a bikini!

Does anyone else feel like the tankini makes their stomach loook bigger because of where it stops? Sometimes I feel like the tankini makes me look bigger than a bikini because it lands on my stomach and makes it looks like it bulges and then rolls up.

I agree! I only have one child but I gained a ton of weight and my skin really stretched out. I went from a size 6 to a size 16 back to a size 8 in a short time so I have some pretty bad stretch marks too. I always say my tummy looks like freddy krugers face!:lmao: Anywhoo...tankinis look horrible on me! I look 10 llbs heavier than I am. I put on a bikini and feel like I look pretty darn good regardless of my litte pouch and crazy stretch marks. The way I see it is that my body got that way by making the most precious thing on this earth...so who cares! I work out my arms a ton so if anyone chooses to glance my direction they will be drawn to my killer shoulders and biceps instead of freddy krueger:rotfl:

If you're me, at any age, any size, and any amount of children, it is entirely inappropriate!:scared1::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

I would have to say there is not age limit or children limit...maybe other limits but not age or children. (For me I should lose some weight to be in mine-working out in!):worship:

Serious??? I haven't read all the thread, but IMHO....it should be when you don't look good in one. If you've got a great body, even at 50, 60 or 70, flaunt it!!!!

Of course that is all subjective. I just don't like seeing someone else's rolls.:cool1:

If you feel comfortable then wear one - the only time I would say it's inappropriate is based on location. Why people walk around the parks in a bikine top I'll never know. Please save them for the water parks.

I agree 100%!!

Big pet peeve for me!
