I've read on several posts people mentioning hurricane season!! I'm from California so I don't know much about it. I've been to WDW many times (always late summer) and have never experienced hurricanes. This trip is for last week of September ..... should I be worried??

June-November is the official season. Orlando is inland, so it might be inconvenient, having to hang inside your room for a bit, but Disney is usually all cleaned up by breakfast.

I would equate hurricane season in Orlando to someone who is concerned about comming to CA because of earthquakes. Sure the big one might be out there, but other then that, don't sweat it a bit.

Thanks Stacy, being from California that certainly puts things in perspective and I feel a lot better. I've been through many earthquakes and It's really not a big deal to me, but I do know a lot of people who visit SO. CAlif really worry about it. Like I said, I've been to WDW many times in the summer and never even realized that I was visiting during Hurricane season! I have seen HUGE thunder showers in WDW, but that was exciting to me , becuase we don't get much of that in California.

I would agree with stacey, Hurricane season isn't a big deal to residents, unlees it's a big hurricane, and your in it's path. Disney does handle these well, and being inland is better than Clearwater Beach, but Disney isn't bigger than mother nature. Two years ago when we were in a projected path for hurricane charlie, lots of my friends went to orlando to avoid it. Which turned out we missed it here and Orlando got it. They said it was bad. It's not as strong in mid-state as the coastline, but disney still has lots of trees down from that storm. A lot of those trees are the huge cypress trees, and they are snapped in half, so I'm sure I've never seen wind that strong. That all said I've never seen wind that strong, and I've lived in Florida over 30 years. If you were ever lucky enough to be in a hurricane's path at Disney I'm sure it would not be too much more than an inconvenience, and a story to tell the grandchildren. From some posts I've read, I think Disney takes good care of you, from in room movies, free food to your room, and even character greetings in your room. If you live here it's a big deal, because you may end up not having a place to live, and every possible storm requires about a days worth of preparation, and you hope your wasting your time.

Orlando still is in the path of hurricanes. The year that 4 hurricanes went through 3 of them affected Disney.
