We are traveling down in Nov. Airfares are throough the roof. Do I lock in this high prices or will they get cheaper as our travel dates get closer?

You might be seeing the lowest prices now. I start shopping airfare at that 330 day mark or as soon as I know my dates. I usually get the best deal 8-9 months out. Sometimes you might see a sale 4-6 months out, but not lately.

Airlines have cut flights so they have fuller planes. And you know there are several classes of tickets. Once the cheapest tickets sell out, the price goes up and so on thru all 5 or 6 classes of tickets depending on your airline.

I see you are from NJ - I am from MN so I have no idea what airfare does in your neck of the woods. My gut feel is you won't see a sale, especially if you are travelling anywhere near Jersey Week or Thanksgiving week.

Maybe buy now and watch prices and if there's a sale, see if you can get a voucher for the difference.

Good luck.

I agree with the first poster. Buy the tickets now. The closer it gets I doubt you will see them go a whole lot lower. But several of the airlines will issue vouchers for the diff. if they do.
