When in May 2014?

Hi all - it's been a while!!

The arrival of Baby No.2 has kept us busy but we're already pinning for another trip back to our second home.

We're actually thinking of taking extended family this time and looking at the option of May - setting aside any deals which could come along, is there a good/bad time in that month which is better to visit/avoid - are there any French school holidays for example?

Any help would be very much appreciated from anyone who has been or looked to go at this time of year!

Never been in May.

I think the French school holidays are split into different zones as a Spring holiday. I would give the first 2 weeks a miss as I am fairly sure their schools are on holiday then, bearing in mind the UK half term also starts the week beginning 26th May (in our case anyway).

I would go the week beginning the 19th if I had to narrow it down.

Beginning of May is your best bet. My Pirate used to go all the time then and its lovely and quiet

The 19th is the quietest week to go in 2014 I believe as there are some long bank holidays in France but saying that theres only family rooms left at the DLH I've just discovered.
So happy we booked a few weeks back!

there are some French school holidays from the beginning of May until 12th. May half term in England/Wales is the last week of May, and 29th May is Ascension Day, major public holiday in France.

So I'd say anytime from 12th to around 23rd, avoiding weekends , would be the quietest times in May at DLP.
