When/how to surprise kids?

I'm looking for ideas on how to tell our five year old he's going to Disney? This will be his 3rd trip, and we're going the end of October. I am also having another baby any day now and my husband thought it would be cute to tell him right after the baby is born- I kind of want to wait until it gets closer, but I know I don't want to tell him the morning of. Any ideas and feedback on what other people have done would be great! Thanks

We tell our kids they are going after an event. For example, we are going in september. We told them they are going after they turn five (one turns five in July and the other August). So they help us plan but we still get to wake them the morning of with were going to Disney! And they sleep the night befre

We are hoping to surprise our kids for Christmas. My current plan is to wrap a couple of Disney things in Christmas paper for under the tree: autograph books, hidden mickeys book, t-shirts, princess dress. Then have the kids open them the day before the trip, under the guise of "early" presents.

There are some "this kid is going to Disney World" t-shirts on Etsy and I might order two of those for the presents. Not sure yet. If your five year old can read (my oldest couldn't really at five, but my youngest looks like she might be), it might be really cute to get a this kid is going to disney world onsie for the baby and see how long it takes your five year old to figure it out.

You could tell your son that the new baby brought him a gift, a trip to Disney? I'm not sure if parents are telling kids about the stork anymore, you could tell him it's a gift from him?

That's what my husband was saying make it a gift for becoming a big brother!

You could buy Mickey or any dis themed balloons your child would like and put them in a big box wrap it up with disney paper and when your child opens it or open it together and say "We are going to Disney World"!! I

Maybe you could write a cute little poem or short story about becoming a big brother & make one of the perks be that he gets to show the baby around Disney. Or take the baby to meet Mickey. Maybe you could have the baby in a Disney onsie & give him a big brother t shirt or a Disney t shirt to wear too. Whatever you decide, good luck & congrats!!
