Other than at Disney World, of course...
Watching DD16 with her driver's license yesterday and today, it struck me that this is the happiest I've seen her in a long time. Don't get me wrong - she's a sweet, sunny kid most of the time. But she is just so THRILLED, so intensely joy filled, about getting her license and being able to drive - it's just delightful to watch. And she's done about 6 errands for me today so I am thrilled too!!
Every time she realizes she can do something now on her own that she used to have to get someone to do for her - drive to the bookstore and browse, go get a hot chocolate at Starbucks, etc. - another wave of joy just washes over her. It's so much fun to watch.
When have you seen your kids be really, really happy about something? Was it an event, something they won or excelled at, something special they were finaally old enough for?
It just feels like Christmas morning here and has for the last 36 hours!
