Hello,

Hoping someone here can answer my question. I'm not new to this board, so I was shocked to find out that I was cited on the Restaurants board for posting a link to a Disney information website (for the unofficial guide).

Can anyone tell me what are the guidelines for directing people to other websites for info on menus, or hotels, etc? For example, lots of people direct others in their posts to go to another website for information. People often refer others to allears, or tikiman, or tour guide mike websites....but why when I referred someone to the Unofficial Guide website did I receive an infraction?

I asked the moderator on this board this question, and he replied that he cannot answer the question because he does not have that information. :confused3

I then posted it on the "welcome to the dis" board, and it has been sitting there unanswered.

????????
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

That is a very good question but I do not have the answer. :confused3 Did you post a link or just the name? Maybe that is the problem. I know it can be frustrating. I once posted a question about the DVC rooms and it was NOT welcomed. :rolleyes1 It was a hot button issue but I truly did not know that. Well you live and learn on this board.

I posted the name of the site, not a direct link. Just as some people write, "go to allears and you will see a whole list of menus."

The infraction was for trying to "override the filter" in listing websites. But I wasn't trying to override the filter- just be helpful and point somebody to a good website.

I don't understand why I was given an infraction...and it was a little disturbing that even the moderator couldn't tell me why some websites are allowed and yet, not others!

Censorship????

Hmmm. I still dont know. Maybe another moderator or long time diser could offer some insight. Don't let it bother you so much. Just remember that it is their sandbox and they can make the rules. For the most part they are not hard to follow.;)

I am happy to follow the rules...if I know what they are!

I'm not bothered at all, just want some clarification from a more experienced moderator or DIS user.

Thanks!

Thank you for the link...I have read through the posting and linking guidelines carefully and really don't see how I violated one!

I will try to follow up with the moderator again.

Any words, including sites that are not allowed are in the filter. The filter replaces the word(s) with ***. If you rephrase the word to spell out the word differently, the filter is considered bypassed and that is considered an infraction.

Should you have any questions, please direct them to admin@wdwinfo.com
