Hello,

Another question from me......

Sorry if its another easy/obvious one....

As my party will most lkely end up 18 or less..

At which point is it better value for me to change up to wishes from escape.

I definitely want a reception, so haven't really been considering Escape, but surely for the $5k whatever left over from a wishes wedding I could do a pretty good reception off my own back?

I know Lynn had an escape and I think we all agree it was spectacular! So I'm open to both options :)

Well it depends on how much you want to pay. 5k or 10k. It really depends on what you want. You have more options with Wishes but I don't think it would be worth it for less than 18 people, IMO.

You can do an at home reception with more people and most likely spend less than 5k.

After your wedding you can go and have a special dinner afterwards with your guests and maybe do a wishes cruise or a dessert party.

Personally I think a lot of it might depend on who you want to use for videography / photography and also how many special extras you want.

If you're going to use an upgraded Disney photo package, bridal portrait shoot in one of the parks, or add a videographer, or more expensive elements such as Cindy's coach, dessert party etc, then you might be nearing your $10,000 mark anyway.

You do get greater flexibility with things such as your cake design, reception locations etc with Wishes so if you're nearing the mark, you might want to take this option.

Just as a rough guide, for 12 of us, if we budget $4500 for the Escape wedding, plus another $1000 each for the dessert party and a reception meal, we're still only at $6500, but if we had wanted Cindy's coach for example, we'd be then over the $9000 mark I believe, so we may have then gone for the Wishes option to take advantage of more floral or cake options etc.

Many of the reception locations for Wishes seem suited to larger groups however, another reason we decided to go Escape and arrange our own restaurant meal, and we were wanting to use outside photographers and videographers - It's all a personal choice though.

Hope that waffle helps slightly (or confuses you more!!)

No, that's helped a lot!

I think having looked at photos on here I'd want to go for Randy as photographer. And a dinner afterwards or dessert party is what I have in mind, so maybe Escape would be the way to go.

Oh its all so confusing!!! Think I need to do LOADS more research.

This was something that swung it for us to do Escape, even though I was originally really into the Wishes plan.

We'd be paying $10,000 plus however much for Randy's package, plus however much for Stan's package coz we (well I!!) really wanted them......

So how much are the wishes cruises?

I can't find info on the at all!!

Try searching for speciality fireworks cruise, or grand 1 yacht or something like that.

I think they're about $400 per hour before any food or drink....

Wow! Thats not bad!

I am SO not having a UK wedding!

Meryll you made some great points!!

I am going with Escape for several reasons, mainly:

1. My total wedding budget is $10K, so I can't spend it all on just the DFTW portion. I have to budget for wedding attire, reception, 4 nights at a resort, invites, gas, hair/makeup, etc. My STB other half would be happy just doing the courthouse route and dinner afterwards, LOL.

2. With Wishes, you have to guarantee rooms, and I can't do that. I am having everything outside the parks, so my guests can stay offsite and not have to buy theme park tickets either.

3. I'll have less than 18 guests. Heck, I don't even know of anyone who can afford to take Friday off of work to come to my wedding, plus gas, hotel, etc. It may just be the 4 of us, LOL.

4. I don't think I'll be doing any upgrading, especially since I expect very few guests. I'll get the basic photo shoot and then order the rest after 3 years.

5. Just the Escape wedding planning is overwhelming me! Finding outfits for us all, designing the save-the-dates, scouring stores to find stuff I need on clearance, etc.

I think the escape option makes alot of sense if you can keep the guest list under 18. That's what we were originally going to do, but then found out they count infants in that list. We have two brand new babies in the family and another one on the way (not me! I can barely take care of myself and my dogs). So we had to make the decision to go to Wishes. But in the end I think it will end up being about the same when you add the reception into the equation. Who knows - the end result is the same! You're married in the most magical place on Earth! :lovestruc
