I got this email the other day:

This is a reminder that your one-year grace period for PayPal's updated fee structure ends August 18, 2005.

In August 2004, you may remember PayPal updated its fee structure. When the update went into effect, PayPal applied a grace period ensuring you would not pay more than the previous merchant rate of 2.2% + $0.30 USD for one year. In addition, if during that time your volume qualified your account for lower fees under the new pricing tier structure, the lower rate was applied to your account automatically.

On August 18, 2005 your grace period expires, and fees will be set based on your country of residence and the volume you receive in the previous calendar month.

We encourage you to view a chart of the pricing tiers to learn more. You can also visit an FAQ webpage and get answers to questions like:

I think you are referring to the post on here about selling on ebay and if you accept Paypal, you must upgrade to a business/premier account to accept credit cards.

I believe I saw the 12th as the date on a thread here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had some auctions that ended Sunday. So, it was the first time that I took the plunge and accepted Paypal credit cards. I can't believe how much the Paypal fee was!!! I was shocked. I sold a set of 10 WDW trading pins for about $27. The Paypal fee was $1.10. Not to mention the listing and FVF from eBay!! I couldn't believe it. I didn't "pad" my shipping/handling enough ... er ... I mean, I didn't charge enough for handling. I only expected like .40

I always figure a little extra into my opening bid to cover eBay & Paypal fees (I guess that's my built-in handling fee). It's sound small, but I will not sell anything for less than $4 on eBay because it's just not worth it after deducting fees (I see people selling things for 99 cents, and I wonder how they ever make money!).

I have always accepted credit cards as part of my sales, and my sales have increased as a result. The extra fees just have to be worked in as "a cost of doing business"

Logos. Also, the Description section of the listing contained the following
text: I accept and prefer Paypal (NO credit cards, they will be rejected).<br>

the samething happen to me today . I had to go in and revise my auction, had to take out the part that said " I don't accept credit cards " ...

it's only August 9, the paypal site clearly says the 19th is when the time is up. My auction ended before the 19th and everything. this stinks.

At least I'm not the only person that this has happened to, LOL.
