When does Southwest add travel dates?

If you go to their website and click on "travel tips" you will see this message:

Travel Tips
We are currently accepting air reservations through August 13, 2010. On March 23, we will open our schedule for sale through October 30, 2010. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

Ugh!!! I have travel funds to use before March 8, but the only flight I have coming up is in October, and I can't book for that date

I guess that's $77 down the drain.

My guess is the next set of dates (after the ones above) will be released in mid-late May.

I believe your expiration date is the travel date. Not that you can use them to purchase travel past the expiration. At least that is the way it has always been. Have they changed something?

Example in your case would be you would have to travel prior to March 9th.

I actually emailed Southwest last week about my travel funds expiring. They emailed me back a little bit ago and said this:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us about your unused travel funds. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your request.

If you are unable to complete travel by the expiration date, please call Customer Relations at (214) 792-4223 during business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday) for assistance once your funds have expired.

Your patronage is important to us, and we look forward to welcoming you onboard a Southwest flight soon.

So I'll be interested to see what they say!
