When does school start back where you live??

We start back on August 4th(students) and I return to work on the 31st of July!!!

the 3rd monday in august and we get out around june 1st. this year the school made an interesting change that i rather like. because our little private school has a "longer" classroom day (8-3, but only 30 minutes for lunch) even though the kids get out at noon on fridays-we always end up with more days in attendance than is mandated by the state. in past years we've been given a couple of odd mondays off near the end of the school year. this next school year in addition to 2 weeks at christmas and a week in the spring off, the school is taking the entire president's day week off. i like it because it's a great time to plan a "non-peak" vacation with the family. a couple of days will be vacation for the staff, and the other 2 will be in-service days, so the parents don't end up with those oddly schedualed staff "in-service" days that never seem to fall conveniently.

Where are you planning to vacation during that time? If you're thinking about WDW, that week falls during peak season. Cruise rates and air fare are also high during that week.

Kids here are still in school. They don't get out until June 28 and return on September 5.

On the Space Coast, FL it is August 9th. No idea when teachers report.

Our homeschool group is having a "not back to school" breakfast where we wear our jammies and bring in our folders with our summer reading lists and book reports .

Where are you planning to vacation during that time? If you're thinking about WDW, that week falls during peak season. Cruise rates and air fare are also high during that week.

ITA. Presidents week definitely isn't no-peak. My sister got married that week this past February. They had a really hard time finding anyplace with availability for their honeymoon and the airfare was sky high.

Sept 6. My kids don't get out till 6/26, they started late due to construction (but we got a free dining WDW trip out of it last year so no complaints!)
