When does school start again in the South?

Here in GA - Aug 1st.

Aug. 5 and Aug. 9 in this part of Kentucky, LOL...and Fall Breaks start September 29

Northwest Louisiana here. First day back for teachers is Aug.8th and for students Aug. 10th.

We're in south MS, and we go back Aug 8. We just got out May 20.

In Fulton County GA, school starts back August 15. That's a week later than last year. The flip side is now the kids won't get out until the Friday before Memorial Day.

Here in Central Florida (Seminole County) kids go back to school on August 1st.

We got out early this year.....May 13th. We go back on August 4th.

My DD's last day of school was today - YEAH!!! And, Allison made the A-B Honor Roll!!! I'm so proud!!!

She goes back to school Aug 12.

We're just south of Atlanta, and the kids go back August 8th. It just gets earlier and earlier every year

August 16th this year (North TX), but they are trying to pass a law in TX that school cannot start until the Tues after Labor day and must end by June 7th beginning with the 2006-2007 school year.

With so many states going back to school most of August, I'm assuming that the week before Labor Day is a great time to visit WDW! Our kids here in NJ don't get out of school until the third week in June and don't go back until after Labor Day. I wonder why there is such variance in school calendars.

I'm planning an August trip with my DH who is interviewing for a teaching postion up here. (Cross your fingers for me, there are no other positions available!) The kids don't go back here until August 23. I was hoping to go the 3rd week of August, but it looks like the second will be ok too!

South of Atlanta, students go back August 8. I'm a teacher, and our pre-planning is August 1--the earliest I've ever gone back, and I'm not amused...I fully expect for the following year to have us coming back in July. Can I have my summer back, please? That's my DW time!
