When does it hit you....

Not until we pass through the turnstiles and walk down Main Street.Every time we stroll that street I feel like I did when I was 12 ans saw it for the firs time. :wizard:

For us, it's riding the tram from the airport to baggage claim. Just a preview of riding the monorail!!

We always drive. So when we pass DTD on our way to POR ( our fave resort) it hits me what we made it. :woohoo:

As we are walking down the jetway to board our plane in Houston bound for Orlando and I am listening to our DS7 recite our (almost) complete itenerary for our entire stay. At that point I know I'm on vacation because I make absolutely no effort in making him stop boring the people around us because I am totally enjoying everything he's saying.

When I see that Welcome to Walt Disney World sign. That gets me going every
time!!!!

For me it is when I drive through the large arch that welcomes you to Walt Disney World on the way to our resort. I get teary eyed every time :cloud9:

My second teary eyed moment comes from walking down Main Street looking toward the castle :goodvibes

I can't wait! :yay:

I'd like to say it hits me when we drive onto WDW property and see the purple signs everywhere. I DO get excited, and the tears DO flow at that point , but it really hits me when we walk onto Main St. and I see the castle right in front of me. It's finally reality and I know I'm truly at the most magical place on earth :goodvibes

For me it's when we step out of the airport and smell the fresh Florida air for the first time. We usually arrive at night after a long day of flights and I'm tired, but that fresh air gives me an adrenaline rush and wakes me right up.

The moment I step outside at the airport in FL. The warm breeze and smell in the FL air is enough to make me realize I am back at home!!!

Love getting on the Disney Buses, and the great Welcome to Disney signs, but it really hits me as I am opening my Chop sticks at Teppanyaki, knowing when I'm done there will be illuminations. :thumbsup2

Always our first stop! (don't know what we'll do when they are down for refurb.)

We drive so it comes in stages. First hint of excitement is when we get off the FL Turnpike, and someone pulls out the Mad Libs book to help the time pass a little quicker. Then as we travel 27 we see the Citrus Tower then start following the signs and get on 192 and then the lightposts are purple and then before we know it we are all watching for the signs to our resort and hoping to catch site of the first monorail! We realize we are there when the kids start yelling out colors for no apparent reason. We have a tradtition of seeing who can guess which color monorail we will see first. They don't even have to tell us what they are doing. It's one of those really fun, family things that we don't have to explain to each other- we all "just know" what we are playing.

We have always said that getting there is half the fun.

As soon as I see the palm trees while riding the "monorail" from the terminal to baggage claim at MCO, I feel like I am "HOME!!!" It is a great feeling!

Me too! :goodvibes

When does it really hit you that you are on vacation In Disney?
It hits me when I take the Walt Disney World Exit (from US 192 East), after having driven for about four and a half hours from home.

Enjoy.

I think its once we are in our room and we step out on the balcony and I look down at the other guests walking around....they are all on their way to something, the parks, dinner, the pool. I'm not sure why, but I always breathe a deep breath and think, "ah, I'm home!"

Taking the monorail tram from our gate.....it just smells so good!!! When we pass over those canal areas, and I look for any wildlife, I feel like I'm home!!!!

It's a three parter - When we exit the FL. Tpk. onto Oceola Parkway, when we drive under the arch, and especially when we get out of the car to check in. I'm alway a little nervous trying to find the resort (since we stay at new ones all the time!) and I really relax once the car is parked.

When we get in the car and drive out of the driveway I am STOKED! I KNOW where I'm going. However, I know that I am there when we see the Welcome Gate just off the highway.

The moment I walk into the Orlando airport and ride the first monorail of our vacation! heh.

If it doesn't hit me then, it's when we sit down to lunch at Casey's Corner. Every year, when we first arrive at WDW, we head straight for lunch at Casey's and listen to the genius pianist! lol (I can only dream of ever playing that well! heh).

But I can pretty much feel the vacation before we even leave the airport. :thumbsup2
