When does it get dark in your neck of the woods?

Ohio is the last state (westward) on Eastern time zone, so we have late surises and late sunsets . Its stillway to early now, but around the 4th, the sun isnt setting here until 9;30-10.00 at night

When I lived in MA, full dark on the shortest day of the year was 4:30pm. The first thing I noticed my first winter in Virginia Beach, was it is still light at 5pm!!! :cool1: Twilight, but not full dark. It is dark by 5:15pm. Living here the winter's are much more bearable. Now, 6.5 years later, I am used to the later sunsets, I am now not too happy that it is much darker later in the mornings than in MA. I guess that's the trade off.

In North Carolina, sunrise at 7:26 am tomorrow. Sunset 5:11 pm. I can’t wait for days to be longer! I hate winter and it still technically fall. 🙄

Michigan and Indiana are Eastern time zone.

Inidana is half and half, as for Michigan thy dont count cause we beat there butt in football all the time :p ( I actually didnt know about Michigan )

I remember when we lived in Michigan and I was watching a news clip of the presidential primary coverage from NH (first in the nation!). The polls weren't closed yet or anything, it was just newscasters talking away, but it was dark in NH and still daylight in MI. This would have been in... February? Anyhow, it was weird to see the difference across the zone, but NH is on the eastern edge of the time zone and Michigan on the western edge.

Here in Massachusetts it was rainy yesterday which meant it was practically dark at like 3:30. I cam home then and had to turn the lights on. But another week or so and they days start to get longer!

eastern washington-sunrise around 7:15, sunset before 4 p.m.. the kids go to and from school in the dark.

I love going north during summer when it's still light at 9:30 at night.

yeah it can be nice but you need blackout curtains if you want some decent sleep before 10 at night and after 4'ish in the morning. it also makes for some crazy late firework displays on the 4th.

Fully dark by 5pm now. It full light about 715am.
I just did a little research about Polar Night, which occurs in the Arctic. 40% of Canada's landmass is considered "arctic" and it's sparsely populated but there are settlements. About 100,000 people live up there altogether. There are literally months at a time that the sun doesn't make it over the horizon. Their version of your statement would be: Full dark by November 16, full light by January 25.

About 4:30 in the Philly area and it's dark until a bit after 7 in the morning.

Pretty much stays the same year round here. Sun sets around 6pm and starts lighting up the sky a little before 6 am. Giving us about 12 hours of both light and dark each day.

Chicago

Sunrise 7:14 AM starts getting a bit light about 6:30
Sunset 4:22 PM Dusk seems about 4 PM

Maybe 5:30...thats when its dark.... that's what time I have my Christmas light timer set for.
