When does "hurricane season" end?

Just curious.... Our trip to disney is the first week of october! I know it is possible to have hurricanes later, but what are the official hurricane season dates?

Officially hurricane season ends Nov 30. Peak season is mid Aug through the end of September.

Hate to depress you guys, but I read that when the regular set of Hurricane names are used up, the next set will start with the letters of the Greek alphabet!!! Let's hope we don't go that far, but since we're only on the second week of September, I wouldn't be too surprised!!!!!
