When do your kids start school?

Trying to get a grip on the crowds for August. Seems like the last 2 weeks in August are not so crowded due to school openings.

NJ begins 9/9/04.

FLorida schools begin in the 1st three weeks of August depending on county--so you won't have as many locals on the weekdays

Though--it is steamy steamy hot--hopefully you are staying on property and can get some pool time midday.

Florida starts school in 1st 3 weeks in August

In Wisconsin we start September 1. Some block head decided we are a tourist state and they need the kids to work until September 1. I'm still wondering what tourist area they are talking about in Wisconsin. College and highschool kids can't even find jobs in Wisconsin unless you are talking about McDonalds.

I libe in Pensacola, Fl Escambia County and we go back to school 8/9/04, it wasn't always this early though.

August 16 here in Carrollton. I think Dallas starts the same time or a day or two later.

I am in Panama City Beach Fla.... we got out of school early on May 18th, and have to back August the 5th !

We want to go to Disney around the middle of September, we usually go in October or January because of low crowds. Hope that we aren't making a mistake ! Anyone else know about September crowds ??

My daughter starts high school on August 17 up here in central Maine. Some schools start after Labor Day though which is the first week of September.

We start Sept. 2 here in Winona (southeastern Minnesota).

OhMari -- Do you think they're talking about the Dells? My cousin is in college at UW-Stout and she's says she knows kids that work there in the summer.

My town is going back i think the 25th or so of August. It used to be September 7th but it changed this year. Good thing i got out when i did!!

We live in Northern NY (30 miles from Canada) and school starts on September 3rd.

Newtown, CT starts September 1, we get out this year on June 23! YUCK, I tried to push for a start date after labor day, cut out some of February week vacation, and get out earlier, but failed!!!

We have the same dates. I hate the late June ending. Growing up in MN, we were always done around Memorial Day.

We have a full week off in Feb and another in April. I think that is crazy.

Lucky for us, and due to a school construction project, ours don't go back until 9/13 this year!!! We're taking advantage of the late start and visiting from 8/30 to 9/9. Can't wait!!!!

For those of you in the south that start back in August - are the schools at least air conditioned? I would hope so. Ours are not except for the cafeteria, library, computer labs etc. Classrooms are not.

NYC public schools start on September 13, they get out on June 25.
