When do you think gas prices will start coming down???

$12 gives me enough for maybe 1/4 of a tank. :(

As a general rule, people have not cut back on their use of gasoline. When (IF) they do, I believe you will see the price start down. They are testing our resolve. If we make no effort to cut back, then the price will continue to rise. Back in the 70's when we had a short termed "gas shortage" my dad worked for an oil company and he said that all their storage tanks were crammed full. Sure enough, it wasn't too long before the prices came back down. They never came back down to their previous level and they never will this time, either. I believe that $1.50 - $1.75 will probably be the new average (FOR AWHILE - then there will be another test of our resolve.) As someone else already noted, we will have to reevaluate our energy policies before there will ever be a longer term solution.

just put $24 in it today on the way home
Its $1.96 where I stopped - most other places are over $2

If you fly over some of the refineries, you can see that the floating roof tanks are at the top, just like in the 70's. Back in the late 70's, early 80's oil was `$40/barrel. We were paying about $0.57/gallon back then.

I predict that prices will go down after labor day, rise again a little, then go down about Nov1, then back up in late Dec.

By the way, for Houstonians, there is Shell station on the Beltway (north) on Gessner, that has regular for $1.81.9.
