When do you take down your Christmas tree?

We have an artificial tree, so we wait until New Years Eve to take it down. It's a good place to keep unopened presents.

At least through January 6th for Epiphany. Realistically, little by little all through the month of January.

It's usually the weekend "after" New Years for us. We usually have a big blowout New Year's eve at the house and are too wiped out on New Years day, so the following weekend, the inside stuff comes down. It usually takes us about two weekends to put up the outside stuff, so the 2nd and 3rd pretty weekend in January/February the outside stuff comes down. We turn off the outside timers on the outside lites on the morning of January 2nd.

I take my tree down on Martin Luther King's birthday. Yes, really. I'm always out of school that day, and it's a handy day to work around the house.

I've already taken down the stockings and a few other things, and they're piled near the tree in the living room. I'll do a little bit of "undecorating" like that ahead of time, but MLK's birthday is my BIG workday.

We ususally take our tree down after New Year's, but DH took it down today! Our poor tree had been demolished by our fat cat Sphinx:cat: ...it looked just awful:headache: --worse than the Charlie Brown Christmas tree before they fixed it up.

Ours goes up the first weekend of Advent, usually Thanksgiving weekend, and stays up until Epiphany, Jan 6. Once in a while, I put away the other decorations and tree before Epiphany, but never our nativities. When I was growing up, we never put out the wisemen until Epiphany, so, we kept the nativities up even longer. I have one special nativity that never gets put away, actually. It is on display in the living room all of the time.

My mom usually takes ours down a couple days after New Year's. Since I am the one who helps her set it up (after Thanksgiving), I will be the one to help her bring it down....which will mean that we will probably bring it down sometime before the 4th or 5th (when I am leaving to go back to school). Unless my dad or relatives (who are visiting for the holidays) help her this time.

Our ornaments came off yesterday, and the tree will come down this weekend. We put it up right after T'giving, so it's been up long enough. And I'm sooo sick of cleaning up cat puke with (artificial!!!) tree needles in it!

Wow, I really enjoy the Christmas tree and all of our holiday decorations. We decorate the day after Thanksgiving and it all stays out until the weekend after New Year's. I figure if I am going to all the trouble to schlep all the decorations, lights and ornaments out from the basement we should enjoy them for a while! :)

We have a live tree every year. I like to have it up for at least three or four weeks. Usually, we put it up about two weeks or so before Christmas and comes down NYD or shortly there after. I need the order to be returned to my house by then.

We have an artificial tree, so we aren't in a big rush to get it down. We typically put it up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down the weekend after New Years.

I never take mine down before January 6th (so I get the full 12 days of Christmas, plus however long it was up BEFORE Christmas). This year we're moving on the 10th, so it might have to come down a little early so we have more room to pack.

Two of my daughters have birthdays on Dec 6 & Jan 7, so the Christmas tree only stays up in between their birthdays usually. This year it came down last night though becuase they (the 2 yos) decided to see who could climb to the top of it while big sister (8) held it steady from the back. Not sure what they were thinking........ but since big sister had a habit of pulling the Christmas tree down at the house we had in her preschool years, the tree will be anchored to the wall or ceiling next year!
