When do you start to feel.....

Your excitement level rise? Mine seems to be the 120 day countdown.

While my trip is not till February, and my countdown doesn't start till the middle of October. Two of my children are planning a trip with their families in December. Their excitement has begun.

I love making all the plans, althought I have to admit most we never follow. We keep most of the PS's but the other plans usually fly off to never-neverland once we enter the park.

How about you are you an over planner? An under planner? Do you plan then say "Oh Well" and go with the flow?

For me each milestone is a burst of excitement. Like 120 days is always fun, then the 100 mark, then 60 days (for more PS). Usually the last couple weeks is when I start to burst.
But for this trip, coincidentally...its TODAY!!!!!! With 9 days until we leave! FIL had been sick and it was really hanging a dark cloud over our excitement. We debated about cancelling or trying our luck to go, and hoping we didnt have to turn right around and come home, or cut the trip short. Unfortuantely(but it was for the best) FIL passed away Saturday. Up until last night we were so busy with the arrangements and everything, I couldnt think about the trip. But now, its like I can finally move on and plan and pack(which I usually do months in advance), and be excited about the trip with no worries. I cant believe its only 9 days and I have nothing ready!

I honestly don't feel any excitement until I'm on the plane . It takes soooooooooo much effort and preparation for me to get away that I'm usually exhausted by the day of departure . However, I usually charge UP when we get to MOTEL 6

I get excited as soon ans DH agrees to the trip!!!

Drives the rest of my family crazy though because it's over 150 days!!! there are still some major holidays to get through!!!!

As far as planning, I planned a lot into our family trip back in '99. We did it 'all', but not rushed or commando style at all. But we did take in a lot and it worked wonderfully with the knowledge I had picked up here from the DIS. I was glad we did a lot, as I think that was to be our one and only family trip to WDW.

On my subsequent trips back to WDW, and a couple to DL, I really went with the flow of the many folks I meet there. They let me know where to be and when, LOL. I have made a tour reservation on my past 6 visits, and have another for this December. I have had a MVMCP and CP dinner package ressie ahead of time each year also. Other than that, I am pretty loose, again, the folks I am meeting always pretty much wind up setting my schedule.

I start to get excited around the 60 day mark I guess. Have fun, Carol, and you also, Katie. Hope the trip helps give you some added comfort this year.

from the day we decide to go until we get there the excitement just keeps building. usually the week before we go you can't get any work out of me and everyone is sick of hearing about WDW! LOL! There was one trip that I burned myself out on it before we got there and spent the entire time rather subdued. I was told I better never do that again!

There's different times I get excited for a WDW trip:

1. When we set the date and call for our ressies (We might change the date and ressies 8 or 9 times, tho!!!)

2. When we buy the plane tickets.....no backing out then!!

3. Finally about 2-3 wks before the trip, it really hits!!! Then I'm bouncing off the walls 'cause I'm so excited after ALL the planning!!!
