When do you start packing?

We usually have to wait until the night before we leave. Work schedules and household chores take precendence along wiht dropping off the fuzzy children at Grandma's so if we leave on Saturday AM like planned for our March Trip, I will be packing on Friday afternoon and evening before we load the truck and leave at midninght.

I used to do the night before, but then I'd be up until midnight and we'd only have 3 hours of sleep before having to get up for our flight.

I will likely still be packing the morning of Dec 1, when I leave. I'll start the night before, but I'm the type person who over packs so I will definitely being like "oh, I should take this! And I might need this too!"

tomorrow evening. we will leave wed morning.. I really do not need too much besides the breakfast items and clothing. Im sure to pack some warm clothes for sure.. no bathing suits for us this trip..

I am a serious, OCD, sorter/packer. I do so partly in anticipation and partly wanting to be organized. I've been tossing odds and ends into a suitcase for over a month. Room decorations, Mousekeeping envelopes, OTC meds we may need, ponchos, etc. Clothing will be packed on or about December 1st for December 5th departure. I'll be waiting on weather reports. We go to the New Orleans JazzFest every year, and I have a small box dedicated exclusively to that trip, so some stuff never gets UNpacked!

I have a spreadsheet packing list. I pack anything that is not clothing related the weekend before I leave, and cross it off the list. I usually do laundry two days before I leave, and then pack clothes the night before, crossing them off the list as I go. That way I know I have everything. Without the list, I'd never make it!

DH usually packs his suitcase 2-3 days prior to our leaving. I tend to underpack rather than overpack so I generally pack the day that we leave and normally my stuff fits into my carry-on duffel. However, we'll be there in January so I will be layering, so I might have to actually check my bag this time. I always use a list to pack.
