When do you make room requests, and what is the best way to do so? Twice now at VWL we have been at the end of the loooooooong hallway, facing the garbage dumpster. Would like to avoid this on our next stay. What is the best time/way to put in a request? Thanks for the help.

BTW - what are good rooms to request at VWL?, BWV?

You can make your request at the time you make your ressie. Call MS back and have them add to your ressie. While request are not guaranteed, they are filled when possible. We always request non-smoking first (just in case we can't get the others) Second, we request a floor preference then finally a room view or building (OKW). During our stays, we've gotten all request except on our most recent trip (but we were delayed and didn't get to check in until after midnight). LOL

PS, I always fax a nice note (4 days before arrival) stating how much we are looking forward to our trip and again to ask if they can fill my request.

I don't know if this is true, JMO but, it may seem that the earlier you check in (room may not be ready) the better chances of getting more of your request. I only stayed at VWL once and we requested a non-smoking room on the top floor with a Bay view. We got it. (checked in at noon)

I'm assuming you fax the resort directly, and not member services. We would like to do this for our upcoming VWL trip next week. Are the resort fax numbers listed in our member guidebook? I need the fax # for VWL/WL. Also, who's attention do you put the fax to? Thanks.

There are rooms with a "dumpster view"?
Just how bad is this, and how many rooms have this "prefered" view? Is there any odor?
Can I assume that the dumpster is "visible", but not the "main attraction"?
THANX

Yes, I fax directly to the resort.

WL & VWL share the same fax and check in area - 407-824-3232.

Disney has the nicest of anything you will see, including dumpsters. The VWL "dumpster view" is of the road that leads to the back of the resort and a covered dumpster which is mostly under a shed type building. You can probably only see it from the last two or three rooms at the end of the hall, and only if you are above the ground level facing in the direction of the bus stop. You really don't see a lot of activity and never see or smell "the main event". Nonetheless, it does not exactly encourage you to sit on your balcony and relax. The nicest thing about the VWL, IMO, is that you feel so far removed from everything. Sitting on the patio on this last trip looking out at trees and landscape was so relaxing - even though we were close to the dumpster you couldn't see it from the first floor. However, when we were in a higher room and got the full monty as dumpster views go, you lost that far away from it all feeling. I assume DVC didn't want to create a two tiered point structure for a dozen rooms with a bad view - but the view we had the first time we stayed at VWL was far from preferred.

I normally call 3 days before i arrive. I called the 800 number, and most of the time, part of my request is honored.

I make all requests at the time of the reservation. I have always gotten my request by doing that. I also do not request a specific room (since we are at OKW), but rather an area. We usually request a specific area among several buildings.

We make our requests when we make the reservation. Then we try to check in as early as possible, even if it means flying out of Dallas before the sun comes up! They assign your room when you check in, whether the room is ready yet or not, so the early checkin has a larger number of rooms to choose from and a better chance of getting a request. They just don't always have enough rooms available to fill all requests.

We own at BWV. We always make request at time of reserving--area request "Boardwalk view"--and have always gotten our request. We do nothing else.

the fax number is 407-824-3232 for the Room Controller, some people call the resort directly 1-407-938-4300.

Include your reservation number, your name, a number you can be reached, date of arrival, your room size, non-smoking/smoking, then your request - and please make it a request - they will try to fill it but no guarantees.

at VWL ask for the best view (in my opinion) of the quiet pool if this is not possible then near the elevators.

the dump is at end of the hall see the following link if you haven't already

sorry - forgot - you have the request 3 to 4 days before your arrival date.
