When do you get your Flu Shot

I've had the shingles twice in the last 10 years and the flu twice in the last 7. So I worry about my immune system and get the vaccine, usually in October.

We were on vacation over Labor Day weekend and we had a WalMart worker ask us if we'd gotten our flu shot yet. I didn't even know they offered them that soon.

This comes up every year. I've had the flu 3 times in my life. Twice after having the flu shot, and once without having it. So i'm going with my own personal odds that I stay healthier without it. Do I think the flu shot causes the flu, like my mother firmly believes? Absolutely not, I just don't think it works well enough to bother. Plus I had a reaction to it one year (not allergy related) so not excited to try it again.

I used to get it all the time but I am skipping it this year- the past three years I got the flu shot but ended up getting the flu anyway (NOT from the shot like some people seem to believe,I got it months later). They can't seem to get it right as to which strain of the flu to vaccinate you for so I will just take my chances. The year that H1N1 was big I had gotten the flu shot but it didn't cover H1N1 and I ended up getting that. I am just resigned to the fact that no matter what, I will get the flu LOL- this year I got it in April the second day of our trip to Disney- My daughter (who also had a flue shot) got it the first day of the Disney trip and shared the love with me.
