We go back to school August 1st!! But we get a week off in September so I'm planning to go then.

Mine go back on Aug. 1 but we are in GA. I think FL generally goes back around Aug. 8. I know that is when a bunch of my friends kids go back.

Up in the Northeast, most schools go back after Labor Day.

We live in MA and my kids go back Sept 5.

The grade school kids go back to school on August 7. I'm a college student and we don't start until August 28.

In WI the children go back the Tuesday after Labor Day. I can't imagine going back Aug. 1 Summer is too short as it is!!

Actually MOST of the districts in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area go back August 14th. There are a few exceptions that do go earlier but I do know that those 2 HUGE districts and the ones inbetween as well as private schools have that date as the start date or even a few days later. ( I am a mommy who has 2 little ones in school, I am also teacher in one of the inbetween districts and my dbf works in Dallas district).
Next school year there will be a law in place that won't allow ANY districts in all of Texas, I believe, to begin before the 4th Monday of August!

when was your last day of school? that might be why our summers seem so much shorter than yours.... we've been out since late May. Our kids have 2+ months of vacation before heading back... and in our district, we get the added bonus of Fall break in early October

I'm sure my little brother(a junior in HS) will love that. He has to go back to school Aug. 7 this year in the keller district .

In Southern Indiana (near Louisville KY), we get out of school the Wed. before Memorial Day in May and we start the 10th of August. I read somewhere that Orlando has a fall break around the 15th or 18th of October. Do any Floridians know if this is the case. Our trip starts Oct.14, and we were hoping it wouldn't be too crowded. Thanks for any info.

In my part of FL kids go back Aug 8 (1 for me, sigh) and we get Fall Break week of Oct 16. This year is just weird, though, especially around Christmas.

We may go back Aug. 1 but we get a week off in Sept, the entire week of Thanksgiving and a week off in Feb. I now have more flexibility for vacations. I personally love it.

Depnding on snowdays, we usually get out the 3rd week of June around the 20th give or take a few days. I'm glad we don't get out until that late, the weather in May and most of June is just too darn cold to be considered summer! I do wish we had a fall break though, that would be nice. We either travel the 3rd weeks of August, Feb or April. I only consider April if it's NOT Easter week.
