When do the crowds go home after summer? Best September week?

We are looking to take a trip in September. What is the best week - when do the crowds go home ? Are we safe making it just after labor day? Other than the possibility of hurricane, is their likely to be alot of rain then?

A few years ago a co-worker was there right after Labor Day and he said it was unbelievably quiet. So, in terms of low crowds, I think that's a good one. I'm not sure about the rainfall amounts but it will still be summer hot in September.

I've been three times in Sept...2nd, 3rd and 4th week. Crowds during all three weeks were extremely manageable, but the second week was the most sparse. The weather is usually very hot and humid (atleast for this Canadian!)...most days in low 90s with humidity. Usually rained for 30 minutes in late afternoon, but didn't distract us. Since we found it hot, we usually started out first thing in the morning at the parks and then went back to hotel for rest by 1:30 and went back out around 4:30 to finish off parks or have dinner. I think Sept is a great time for low crowds, but be prepared for hot days with short bursts of rain.

Before my daughter started school, my husband and I used to plan our yearly Disney trips in mid-September...that has been the very least crowded time of the year for us every time. We still do manage to make a few day trips in September on the weekends, and even the weekend crowds are fairly sparse. You should have a great time! It usually rains in the late afternoons here in Florida during that time of year, but hey, that's a great excuse to buy the very stylish Mickey rain ponchoes!

the slowest week of Sept in all the years we visited was the week after Labor Day. its just dead.
still hot but not as bad as Summer.
