I'd question that Aug 20 release date for the UG. That would mean they would have had to close copy on the edition in around March, way before any of the main announcements about new attractions for 2008. So they will either be missing key elements or the release date is just wrong. I can't imagine why you would want to release the guide for next year when the summer season isn't even finished 
We still find our main sales 'season' is Dec-March so, as long as we are out by November, wee think we have hit the main part of the market (plus we have waited as long as possible to get in the latest info). It is quite a juggling act (and I'm sure it makes every publisher tear their hair out!), but guidebooks always have a battle with Deadline v Publication, which is why these kinds of forums are so useful
