When do potential deals for Jan come out?

Hey all, long time no post!

Well after having to cancel our 07 trip due to pregnancy and our 08 trip due to baby would only be 3 months old, we decided to go in January instead of Septemeber! Mainly due to it is an easier time for all of us to get off, out of school, etc.

So, having not gone at this time of year before... When, generally, do deals for January start popping up for WDW?

We are looking at staying on site - would like POR but we have a bit of a budget restraint this time so may stay at Pop Cent., definitely going the dining plan though.

As a side question, here is a good one for all you know-it-all's :)

Let's say we are staying 5 nights, with the "magic your way dining"

Using disney's online reservation system, it is about $180 cheaper to get 3 (two adults and one child) 8 day "no frills" passes rather then 5 day "park hoppers" - can we do that with the MYW deal?

Because we rarely park hop, only on AK/Studios day and our final day (MK and Epcot, hit the highilights of both one last time).

Thanks all!

So sorry to hear you had to cancel your trips, but good to hear that now you to get anticipate a wonderful January trip. I loved going in January. Now to answer your question about the tickets. You can buy the 8 days, but you cannot use them to park hop. You can't use two tickets in one day to get into two different parks. If you want to park hop, you have to have park hopper tickets, or an annual pass.

As for the January deals, I think it has been mentioned that they start coming out in October or early November. Several years ago, I got free Park Hoppers as the "deal". A had AAA so I also was able to get that discount off my room so the free park hoppers was nice because we really use them.

Hope this helped a little bit.

Thank you! :worship:
We are very excited about trying a new time of year.

Tickets: We knew we can't park hop with "regular" tickets, rather it uses days for each park we visit. Glad we can still do that with MYW though :D

The way we see it, it... In 5 days there we will visit "a" park 7 times. MK on arrival day, then MK for a full day, Epcot for a full day, AK/Studios for a day, and Epcot/MK both at the end.

According to the wdw ressie system... It is a $150 more to get a 5 day park hopper then an 8 day "base".

With that though, let's say we do this:
Go to MK in the morning - costs 1 "day" on the ticket
visit epcot in the afternoon (same day) - costs 1 "day" on the ticket

If we go back to MK that evening (same day), does it cost another day?

To clarify - with MYW tickets you cannot visit more than one park on one day without the park hopper option. In your example, you cited going to MK in the morning and Epcot in the afternon - you would need the park hopper option - you cannot use 2 days off your ticket to do the two parks. You can however go to the MK, go back to your resort and then re-enter the MK. Disney has this figured out, financially, that's why the park hoppers cost more than buying more days (or we would all buy extra days rather than park hoppers). The only way to do what you are proposing would be to purchase one day tickets and this would be a very expensive way to park hop since they cost over $70/each (I believe).

There is a sticky thread on tickets with FAQ's on the theme park strategy and planning board (I think that's where it is) that might help you out. There's also a poster who hangs out there named Cheshire Figment who is extemely knowledgeable about ticket questions who could answer your question more succinctly than I can if you post a ticket question there.

aha okay. Found the thread, reading it over... Can't blame a guy for trying to save a buck lol

Thank you again! Soon as my wifey gets home we call and make all the ressies!
