Good morning all!

I searched this topic but couldn't find a definitive answer.

If I'm leaving for my next WDW vacation in 2 months, how soon should I order my rewards card in order to receive it in time? I want to have as many points accrued as possible, but don't want to risk waiting too long to order it.

Thanks!

Thank you, i was going to ask the same question but then I saw yours.. we leave in october and I was wondering when to order mine.

I actually paid the balance of the trip off early so that I can hopefully get all those points to use on this trip - that's a lot of points!

I'm going to WDW Oct 1st and I just ordered mine yesterday.

I usually order my card 6-8 weeks before the trip. I transfer everything EXCEPT $10. I usually have another statement before my trip, so then a few days before I leave I log on and transfer the last $. The least you can transfer is $10, so if my last statement only earns $8, I can still transfer it ($18). does that make sense?

I just pick it up at DTD when we get there.

So let's say I order my card today and I received it in 2 weeks and it has $100 worth of points on it. Are you saying that I could go online or call the day before my trip and have any more accrued points (of at least $10) transferred to the card that already has the $100 on it?

Yes, I ordered mine a couple weeks ago for our November trip. I transferred the majority onto the card when I ordered, and then right before our trip I will put the remaining on there.

Like another poster mentioned, you can keep accruing points right up until you leave, then have them all put on a card at the kiosk at DTD. No waiting!:thumbsup2

If you have enough in your account I would order it now. I believe the min. is $20 to order one. The card will expire Dec. 31st of next year so it won't matter when you order it this year as to the expiration date.

If you don't order it in time you can pick one up at DTD booth (and also several in the parks I believe). They will give you the card and the 800 number to call to get $ transferred. But is is quicker to do it online. Seemed like it took quite a while for my DM to get hers transferred by phone (on hold long time).

And as PP have said, you can immediately transfer rewards $ to your card online. Takes only seconds.

Have fun!

BTW, I ordered mine for our upcoming trip a little over a week ago. I should get it this week. Then I will transfer the $50 I got for complaining about not getting any rewards $ when I opened the account (saw another thread about this). ;) I am a charter member and all I got was a pin.

We just went last month and it took 2 weeks to get. I left $10 on the account and put the rest on my card. My statement ended the 16th so while in Disney on the 18th I called and had the balance added to the rewards card.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm thrilled to know that I can order the card now to be sure I get it in time, but add the rest of my points to it right before I go. It's the only card we use, so we accrue points almost daily. I should have about $250 to use by the time I go to WDW in November! That's a couple of day's worth of food for our family of 3.

Thanks again guys!

What my friend does is go to DTD GR and gets card and than calls to get her points put on it.

We're going in less than 2 weeks.....to give you an idea, I ordered ours in June and put $30 of the rewards dollars on it. I wanted to make sure that we got it in plenty of time. ( it does take up to 2-3 weeks for it to come ) With 2 months to go, I'd definately order your card now.....just transfer the minimum amount required so you can order the card. You want to make sure you get the actual card in plenty of time for your trip. :goodvibes

The Disney $$ won't expire until December 2011, so no worries there. You can transfer the remaining $$ a few days before or the night before you leave for your trip. I just transfered all the remaining balance on ours yesterday. (since the statement closed and I know that we won't post anymore Disney $$ before we go).

Thanks for reminding me to order mine. :goodvibes

I usually put the minimum on the card when I order it, and transfer the balance the morning we leave.

I got my card on Friday but we are arrive in Disney on Nov 4th (get $150 rewards for opening).

What should I do about ordering the card? Should I just wait until my next trip (in the spring hopefully)?

Can I use mine to buy Disney dollars?

I think I earned more than I am going to spend in Oct.:goodvibes Didn't really think about them expiring. Disney dollars I could spend or carry home with me and dream about my next trip

If you haven't ordered a card with all the points loaded onto it, the points you accrue with each statement don't expire for 5 years.

Just an update: I ordered my card on 8/31 and got it yesterday in the mail. So it took 2 weeks to get it.
