When do FP+ get canceled when a park ticket is no longer linked to them?

I know I've seen this information before but cannot for the life of me locate it:

If I have FP+ reservations for future travel dates (end of October), how long would it would be before the system would cancel them after I delink my park ticket? I ask because I want to use my (flexible date) ticket that is currently linked to those FP+s for my spontaneous trip this weekend and then promptly upgrade that ticket to a Platinum AP (which should then satisfy those end-of-October FP+s need for a ticket to be associated with them).

I think I remember reading that some particular protocol applies to FP+s that don't have a ticket linked within 30 days of their date. Is this true? Is there anything I should be worried about/mindful of when pulling off this quick "swap"? Has anyone done this before?

I bought my daughter tickets for a trip in June. She decided to go on a short trip with a friend in May and was able to upgrade her June tickets to an AP at that time. She upgraded before entering a park and the June FPs stayed.

I would say go this weekend, use the ticket the first day, and then upgrade to the AP that day, and there should be no worries of losing your end of October FP+

One thing to keep in mind, AP's are only capable of holding 7 days of FP+, unless you are staying onsite. I don't know if that will come into play for you or not.

You actually have 1 1/2 days to do the upgrade after entering your first park. If lines are long at Ticket Windows when you arrive at the park, you can wait to upgrade later that day.
